Signed by Cowboys Cowboys sign CB Cobie Durant

I heard they underestimated his departure. Letting him go was the right thing to do. Not having a replacement killed them.
They should have just paid him instead of shuttling jags and udfa in and out of the lineup most of the yr.
It wasn't like he was trying to "break the bank" ...

He was also one of the few players on this defense with an edge. One of the few dawgs on this team and they let him walk.

Another personnel blunder by this FO that ended up hurting the team.

I think you're viewing that wrong. Most pure slots are your third corner, thus they are paid less because they are not on the field all the time. If we used Bland in the slot, he would play the outside when we only had two corners out there, thus he'd play pretty much every snap.
Not at all. That's why I said "purely slot"!
Unless you're playing a team that primarily runs 12 personnel you're in nickel 80-85% of the snaps.
That number of snaps in the slot on a 90m contract is a bad contract!

The Kool-Aid this year is tasting a lot better than the previous years. With new coaches bringing a new system, some above average FA signings, plus a chance to add two solid starters with the 12th and 20th picks, I'm liking this off season a lot.

No one here can deny that. Wait, I'm at the CZ. Scratch that.

Don’t take it personal Stephen.

;)
There will be some good linebackers on the board at 20. There are some good edges available in trade right now. They also can still sign a free agent linebacker too.

I think he’s a solid, if unspectacular corner. He definitely improves the roster. Solid move in my opinion.

Well, his play last year while far from perfect was better than pretty much any corner that was on our roster. Of course, that's not saying much.

I mean we still suck with him last year lol. Jordan Lewis wasn’t irreplaceable. They just didn’t do anything. Bland should’ve been good enough to go back to nickel but he had his own issues.

5.5 million is usually bum money though
Slightly above. The $3 million we gave Ogbonnia was bum money.

$1 year, $5.5 million probably means no team was sold on him being a sure starter, even as a nickel.

Yeah we needed more depth and someone to fill Lewis’ role. I dont think they look at him as the answer at CB, I believe we will take one in the first.

If he was playing purely the slot, I agree. If he's in the slot 80-85% and outside 20-15%, then it's just what you pay your top corner no matter where he aligns.

We wanted our top corner to play slot last year because it was one of the more important position in Eberflus's scheme. Seems to be the same in Parker's from what he has said.

Going into this season's Free Agency the highest paid pure slot corner was Kyler Gordon at 3yr 40million.
I'd think they have every intention of playing Bland outside. Otherwise it would contend for one of the top 10-15 worst contract decisions in NFL history!
I always thought Bland was better in the slot. Dallas is committed to him now after Jerry handed out yet another questional contract to a player coming off injury...

I do like Bland and maybe with a little luck he'll return to the team "shiny and chrome" lol

Bland played 32% of his snaps in the slot last season. With the signing of Durant and keeping Steward I'd suspect it will be quite a bit less this season!

Who’s your favorite?

Mansoor Delane for me.

Don't know him but still glad we signed a cb. Can't understand at all why they didnt sign any lbers though. Feel they needed to sign at least 2 in fa.
