Cowboys Sign Former Browns DT Perrion Winfrey

Not me. We have two NT's and two 3T's. 3T play alot more than NT's
Right, but I thought we'd keep some competition for camp. We have Mazi and Toia as our only two NTs. Odighizuwa, Thomas, Winfrey, Akingbesote and Daxon are all 3-techs. Both Daxon and Akingbesote may be able to play both, though, Akingbesote is 6-3, 306 and Daxon is 6-2, 304.

Seems safe to assume Toia makes the 53 now. Figured he would anyway, but now his main competition for backup NT is gone.

Why do you think he's a JAG? To me, this is like the Turpin signing. He hasn't played a whole lot. But he was good in college. 2nd round grade.

Dude has huge upside if he can stay out of trouble. Scheme fit too, I think.

Not sure why people think this guy sucks. He can play the run better than Mazi.

His legal troubles derailed his career, not his performance.
I don't think you can build a team with UFL players. we hit on Turpin....can you hit again? chances are low.
and being better than Mazi....enticing, but mazi really sucks. so that ain't saying much....

yeah, but you are not going to build a team based on UFL players who couldn't make it in NFL....
I don't have a problem with cheap signings from the UFL. I don't think they are much different from cheap signings in free agency. You are scrapping to bottom of the barrel in free agency. At least with the UFL, we're taking from the top of that barrel.

Winfrey is 290. There is no way he's going to be the 1T. None.
I do wonder if we're viewing him as a pass rusher (he had no sacks in the UFL this year) or do they think he's more of a run defender at the 3-tech spot. Of course, at the moment, he's just a body, not someone they are counting on.

Plus, he's the most dominate ping pong player in the entire locker room.

It's a league. Turpin couldn't make it in the NFL until he could.
Understood.

It's about talent and good ones get drafted. UFL is a long shot and diamond in the rough. With that said Turpin is good but not spectacular. So he is zirconia in the rough. Lets not make him out to be this super star...he is a good special teamer.

This is the worst "compliment" in the history of the world
I forgot to add potentially. Just watched some of him in the UFL where he played 1-tech. I thought I remembered Cleveland playing him at 1T and 3T, but I could be wrong about that. In college, he played everywhere 0-5.

One thing to remember, he's only 24. Maybe it clicks, maybe it doesn't but I'm rooting for him to be good because he had potential at Oklahoma. Hopefully he's done doing dumb crap now and wants to make some money.

Whitecotton brought him here. Dante Fowler isn't the exact same scenario, but we turned his career around with a former coach when he was considered a bust. I just think this is more maturity-related. And he's older now. So I hope they can get something out of him. Even the 90 man roster is thin at DT.
