Cowboys sign Igor Olshansky... per Schefter (4-year, $18m/8mil guaranteed)

You know you can talk ruing with me, but don't talk ruing with McCordsville Cowboy, it will go right over his head. Just don't do it.

Are you suggesting that McC lacks the rue gene??

I think he'll do better for Wade. The guy is a beast. He can lift his 305 pounds to a pull-up bar 20 times. He does six reps of 465 pounds in the bench press.

I'm thinking with his strength, he could see spot duty on the nose... certainly, if the Boys choose to go 4-3 for a down or two, he could move inside to DT easily...

Now that we have Igor, will we sign Dr Frankenstein too?

Absolutely not...

But the new team doctor will be Dr. Frahnkensteen... Friedrich von Frahnkensteen, to be exact...

Good, solid signing. Certainly quiets my moaning for a day.

I don't know if he's as good as Canty, but as I sit here right now I think I'd much rather have Igor at $20 million than Canty for twice that. Canty's just not a $40 million player in our system.

At the very least, we have a dependable player who knows Wade's scheme and won't be relying on a 2nd-round pick or Hatcher to start.

I like Igor better than Canty and we got him for much less. Jerry's actually had a couple of good days here.
Who are you and what have you done with my friend Bach?

Great move. He's knows Wade's system better than anyone and he is still coming into his prime at age 26 (27 being prime for an athlete).

Bach deserves some kind of award for his behavior these last 24 hours. Assuming that he's not a pod person...

4 years 18 mill is a pretty good deal for us for a guy that's not that much of a drop off if any from Canty

Say what you will about Jerrah, but he is a shrewd businessman.

oh let's not go that far. the Flo, Hamlin, and TO signings last year aren't looking so "shrewd" right now

I assume you're going to supply an alternate plan of action that Jerry & Co should have followed with all 3 players.

Hey, it's like this I wasn't big on resigning Flo either, but the fact is there weren't a lot of alternatives out there available either through FA or already on the team in the forms of McQ or Free. And I'm willing to give Adams a pass after the Arizona game since it seems he did have a shoulder injury.

Go back a year on TO. TO had an unbelievable '07 and most realized that Glenn no longer was going to be an effective wide-out.

And Hamlin? I'm not pleased about his '08, but other than him the whole secondary was in a state of flux all season long and I'm sure that affected his performance.
