Signed by Cowboys Cowboys sign Jalen Thompson

I think that they will draft a safety. It's a very deep class.
I agree probably get A DB But when you make signings like this you don't have to reach so if the guy you target doesn't follow to you he go to BPA.. I'm pretty much with the group that understands they're probably going defense with the first two picks they may even move down from one of the picks and pick up a day to pick but this gives them options picking up Gary and now Thomson and I'm sure they're not done It helps them in the draft to not reach not have to trade up or get desperate..

lol. That’s not good.

Not sure what rankings you are looking at or how they rank the players. But assuming every team starts two safeties….. not even making the top 50 is borderline starter/backup and not someone who has it locked down.
He makes a lot of tackles.

Pass defense sucks. 102QB rating.

Should help clean up the run defense.

But a huge liability in coverage.

Need to see how the contract was structured.

Am I in an alternate reality here? What is going on? I dreamed of this type of aggressive FA fl years and never thought I’d see it.

Arizona came in here earlier in 25 totally tied up Dallas offense in knots holding them down to 17 points . Budda Baker and Thompson , the secondary had a night as did the front 4

Think a lot has to do with scheme.

Thompson a seamless fit, as he has earned an 83.5 PFF coverage grade in open coverages, excelling in quarters and half-field zone responsibilities.
His tackle skills are elite.

The lack of INTs and high QB ratings are red flags.

Still, we need the help.

Summary of the "Cowboys" Transition

The 2026 signing by Dallas was largely driven by their need for a safety who doesn't "leak" big plays. While he isn't a "ball hawk" in the mold of a Trevon Diggs, he provides the steady, high-floor coverage that allows more aggressive corners to take risks.

Not to be overlooked is his familiarity with the scheme. This defense is more complex than Eberflus'.

Walterfootball gives this a C-. They say a massive overpay for a good, but not elite safety in a draft class packed with talent.

Exactly ! I’ve seen bombs in the secondary and Hooker nowhere to be found to assist the CB . I don’t expect deep coverage from Wilson .
