Signed by Cowboys Cowboys sign RB Javonte Williams

Wow…..Williams is not a bad gamble to be still improving and getting healthier. The guy is only 24 years old today; he will be 25 in April. A good short yardage, grind it out RB, though not a home run threat. 5’10” 220.

Hopefully we will get an every down stud in the draft, but if it doesn’t fall that way, there are a lot of quality home run backs even later in the draft that we can pair Williams with.

I got him going to the Giants @ 3 in my latest mock. They learned their lesson letting Barkley walk.
Please no. I can't have him going to a division opponent, especially the Giants. lol

I kind of wonder if Chicago might be eyeing him. They've been making some moves on their Oline.

You set the bar too high and underestimated how deep the talent is at RB this year, might be the deepest ever in NFL history no exaggeration.
Even in years where a position has been strong in the draft, the number of misses go up exponentially, the later the draft gets. 50 percent actually was a high number. The hit rate in the fifth round and on is closer to 40 percent or below.

I think a lot of fans get blinded by the hits in those later rounds and ignore the majority of misses. I've posted on this before, taking a draft and showing the number of hits vs. misses, but I don't feel like doing that again.

This is a good analysis of it: https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2015...e-statistics-tell-us-about-the-draft-by-round

Here's another: https://www.dailynorseman.com/2022/4/26/23042105/nfl-draft-pick-bust-rate-remains-very-high

Javontae Williams looks like a better RB than today's Zeke, so that is a plus. With Rico Dowdle likely gone, it means Deuce Vaughn's roster spot is safe.
I think the coaches we have had a lot to do with this signing. Not that they necessarily wanted him above all backs, but that this is the type of back they wanted. Fits the James Conner mold in this zone running scheme.

Rico wants $6+ million per year.

This guys plays for peanuts. Same old crap just another toilet
Don't know if he wants $6 million per year. That was the projection. But I'm sure he wants to capitalize as much as possible on his first 1,000-yard season. His earnings potential will never be higher.

Saw somebody say "not the same since the ACL".
He looks the same from what I've seen. The Broncos OL sucked for all their RBs and Payton changed the running game system. He was never going to be a superstar but he runs with decent speed and quickness, breaks tackles and is just tough to get down.

This looks like the Zeke signing last year. Look at Williams yds per carry over last two seasons. 3.6 and 3,7 last two years. Ouch.

No knock on Williams but he had a horrific knee injury a couple of years ago and he hasn’t been the same since.

This is Zeke 2.0 (as in the 2024 version of Zeke)
When I saw that chart I knew I had to post it in here immediately.

This is exactly Zeke 2.0 and the only way I see him having any success is with the Cowboys new OL coaches implementing and executing new OL schemes and a renewed commitment to the run.
