IMO Williams is as about the same as Dowdle, and better than the rest currently on the team. So if the Cowboys lose Dowdle to FA (which I'm fine with, he's not worth more contract-wise than Williams just got) then they will be where they were. I'd still draft me a stud RB and throw the rookie in the lineup Day 1, and make Williams beat him out for starting.

I wouldn't have any problem with that scenario but it'd have to be a second or third round pick, imho the lines need to be the first round pick area.

Rico has outperformed him. Williams didn’t even rush for 600 yards last season and he’s averaged under 4.0 the past two seasons. The guy is a jag.

It appears the knee injury has reduced his effectiveness. Could be the team environment of course, for $3 million it's a worthwhile pickup.

Would rather draft 1 and pick up another off the undrafted list. Depends of course on what the other teams do in the draft, if they pick 35 running backs there's not going to be many, if any, undrafted rbs I'd want.

We’re looking for cheap bodies to add depth and competition. We’re banking on the draft hoping we can land a quality back. There’s been a lot of talk about Jeanty. He could end up being our top pick.
