Ever since the league started their rookie salary structure there hasn't been a whole lot of problems. However, for those that overachieve early, they get a little testy around the 3rd season. It's that second contract that causes so much heartache.

Owners want to pay for, at the most, the player's value through the years of the new contract. Some players want to make up for, what they perceive to be, an underpayment for their previous years.
