wouldn't be shocked if we still sign Lawson. If they feel we can upgrade the DE room by cutting a guy then signing a vet like Lawson, they will.

....I think they are getting that Mazi is failing the grade, kinda thing. Better stock up while the season is young.
When they start signing guys in the range of 315-350, you'll know they're concerned about 1-tech, as will the rest of us.

Working theory here is it is "when," not if"... to your point I suppose, they've wanted to assess both Mazi (as to whether he's ready to be the #1) and Rogers (as to whether he could possibly be one of the few 7th rounders who make their team's 53-man in any given year)... before going out and getting another guy. Or two. And probably have had some conversations with some potential trade partners, since the free agent pool for players with that skill set is limited as it is. I remain persuaded that Lawrence Guy deserves a look, but who knows.

I don't get why being Micha's teammate is a qualification.
its not really. Its just an interesting factoid from a fans point of view. Who knows if the F.O. even cares about that. But maybe. I just know when I watched some tape of him, he has bend off the edge and has energy,

Laswon in 74 games has 27 sacks. He has been healthy for 5 of his 7 seasons.
probably about the best pass rusher left out there

Then you would be amazed at what a real GM can get accomplished. They have plenty of money available to extend Dak and CD without blinking an eye. They shaped the cap spending to make it look like they can't do anything but remember they have very few guys signed next year and virtually nothing after that. Dak's extension that will 100% happen likely gives them more cap space or could if they wanted it to.
Please enlighten me on which real GM right now is getting it done with a QB waiting for his 3rd contract and only wants a short deal so he can get paid again on his 4th?????

Ah, vs the guy who has a whopping 27 sacks in 6 seasons and misses almost as many games as he plays?
He's still better than these two.

Probably cost more too hence why we passed.

When did Dak say he wanted a short deal so he can get paid again? News to me. Dak wanted only 4 years last time because he wanted the new TV deal in place right before he gets a new deal. Now he would probably accept a 5 or 6 year deal but more importantly they can add a few void years to spread out his cap hit anyway if they want to. You are welcome to look into how other teams afford a highly paid QB along with other guys but it's easily doable if they want to. The catch is Stephen doesn't want to.

Coming out of college, Toney drew praise for his elite athleticism - his Relative Athletic Score was eighth-best at his position in that class - but was considered to solely be a speed rusher who struggled on early downs. Toney was also overshadowed by Parsons and Odafe Oweh, who both went in the first round.

Whereas Muhammad has already proven that he can contribute as a situational edge rusher in the NFL, Toney is a bit more of a project. His athleticism is undeniable, and his relationship with Parsons certainly doesn’t hurt. If Toney can capture the magic of his college days, he may be able to fit in well as a rotational edge rusher on passing downs when Parsons isn’t lined up off the edge.

I'm massively confused. Mazi plays DT. So what does signing a DE or two have to do with him?

I’m assuming you negative Nellies also understand that if a DE that was already on the team starts getting more snaps (Fehoko, Gholston, Johnson, Wheat) on defense or special teams, you also need DEs for all the camp snaps, preseason snaps, and practice squad.

It’s almost not fair. At some point the league is going to step in and put a stop to this talent acquisition
