The Lions receive no compensation in return while the Cowboys have to pay Greenwood and count him against their 53-man roster limit for a minimum of three weeks.

There must be something going on with Moore that we don't know. I thought he did pretty well for us last year and in PS, was shocked that he was cut. Now that we add a CB, we go out side and get him with Moore sitting out there. It's not only us, but no team has picked him up. So there must be something we don't know.

Total speculation on my part but it could possibly be his attitude.

I snagged this from SB Nation: Pride of Detroit... From June, 2013.

Who does Ron Bartell think the Detroit Lions' "most gifted guy" is in the secondary? The answer may surprise you.

When the Detroit Lions drafted cornerback Chris Greenwood out of Albion last year, he was described as very athletic and very raw. Unfortunately, due to an injury, we never really got a chance to see what Greenwood could do in 2012. He missed the entire 2012 season, and his development was set back as a result.

This year, now that he's healthy, Greenwood is entering what really is his rookie season. He's still learning how to play cornerback in the NFL, and he's had moments where it's clear that he is inexperienced. He's making good progress, though, and rawness aside, fellow Lions cornerback Ron Bartell is impressed with what he's seen out of Greenwood so far this offseason. From the Lions' official site:

"To be honest, he's the most gifted guy in the secondary," said Bartell. "Athletically, I don't think any of us stack up to him. He has a lot of talent, but he's very raw.

"So he has to get his technique down."

Bartell went on to say that in terms of talent, Greenwood "has it all." Now he just needs to gain experience and, as Bartell said, learn the technique. Once he puts that aspect of his game together, combined with his outstanding athleticism, then the Lions may really have something special in the secondary with Greenwood.

He was projected as a fourth or fifth round pick, but slipped, slightly, to the Lions, who took him with the 13th pick in the fifth round. Greenwood's stock had risen in the weeks leading up to the weekend's draft, especially after running a 4.42 in the 40-yard-dash during Michigan's Pro Day. He had also impressed scouts during the East-West Shrine Game.

Good candidate to contribute on special teams - if I remember correctly, while he was in college, he was quite the kick blocker.

I looked at the game 4 preseason film of the Lions, they had him as a gunner on special teams and he was the first guy down the field, so would expect to see him there if he is on the active roster. He is definitely raw as a CB he got burned on an 80 yd TD, he bit on a short in the WR did who then went long. He looks the part though. He played the right side and never slot in the game.

What is going on with Moore is that he is what he is. He is decent but isn't going to develop into anything moore.

We are picking up a guy who is going to be inactive every game or if he is active, not seeing any time on the D. You don't waste that spot on someone who you don't think you can develop.

FO, has definitely moved on from Sterling, time the board does as well.

I don't know that this is true. If we needed someone to come in and be a #4 corner, I expect we'd likely sign him.

Greenwood and Moore are both CBs but they would fill very different roles here (stopgap CB vs. developmental player)

It's basically a 3 week audition. If he isn't worthy of a roster spot they cut him and keep on churning. They could even add him to their practice squad at that point.
