Cowboys soon to be Free Agents on Offense

Pickens is a top 5 WR.
Dallas needs to sign Pickens to a new deal, franchising him is not the answer. Get Pickens deal done first don't drag it out, can somebody besides Jerry negotiate with the agent, that may be the way to get this done.

Mann, I'll take a step further and say trading isn't an option at all for Jerry, Stephen, Schotty and Dak. They have all made it as clear as possible that they want him back. All this trade talk is for the fans and media......

No way in hell you are getting rid of a player who cost you a 3rd rounder but is now an All-Pro after one year. Not happening.......
Franchising Pickens is the wrong move, I hope Dallas signs him to a long-term deal, I don't like Ol Jerry being the negotiator though, resign Williams if you can along with Bass and Hoffman as well.

Who should we keep? All but Jones and Adeniji, unless minimum contracts for camp bodies. Wish we could trade Tolbert.

I think we'll bring back Adeniji for depth purposes. He looked OK at guard and right tackle. Otherwise, Pickens, Williams, Hoffman and Bass are the only ones I expect back. I thought Hoffman was a UFA and we'd lose him for a team looking for center competition. Nice to know we have him for another year.

I don't agree. I think they need to tag him. First of all, the tag for receiver looks to be lower than the average per year that a contract will be worth for the numbers he put up. (I think his agent with be looking for $30 million APY while the tag should be somewhere around $24 million to $27 million.) Second, I just don't trust him to not do stupid things that hurt the team. Having to play on a one-year deal forces him to be on his best behavior again. If he balks at the tag and sulks or causes issues, then we probably need to move on anyway.

You have to start with the Franchise.....Some media pundits are starting to compare Micah Parson and GP3 contracts as they both have the same agent and that agent gets MAX value for his clients. Fans thought Micah would get 35-38mil and ended up getting 47mil a year. Now everyone is saying GP3 is worth 30mil and some media folks are saying he could go as high 38-40mil similar to Jamarr Chase. GP3 is the #1 FA WR available in 2026. I say Franchise Tag and prepare to trade him.....I would entertain a straight up trade GP3 for Raiders Max Crosby. That or 1st and 3rd min.

Not to mention he's a solid 3-down back. Also good to see Blue finally got some carries near the end of the season. We can expect a bigger load for him......
Hope so. There clearly are some issues with him and I don't know if those go away just because he finally saw the field.

Pickens is Michael Irvin 2.0, that is hard to come by. Keep the offense lethal, and intact and build this defense and make the playoffs next season.

I understand what you are saying, but the tag may just ruffle Pickens feathers, keep this stud WR happy so Dallas can put up 35 next season. This guy is special after the catch. I am less than sure about this happening though because Ol Jerry will probably screw something up, he and Pickens agent are at odds already I figure. I realize this can go either way.

Don't care if his feathers get ruffled. That would just show that character may be an issue since he'd be making $24 million-plus, a lot more than he made on his rookie deal. Take the money, give the team more proof that your character is not what Pittsburgh says it is and work toward getting a long-term deal the next year.

Now, I can understand players not wanting to play on the tag when they can get so much more money guaranteed with a long-term deal, but the tag money would be fully guaranteed.

I would take any of those ahead of Pickens, but he would have slotted in right there if he didn't lose interest the last few games of the year. We need to see a complete season out of him before any sort ot extension as well. Williams, if the price is right, and if it's not, you have to walk, as there are plenty of RB's available
Pickens "losing interest" late was overblown in my opinion. Teams started taking him away. That's why Lamb and Flournoy both went over 100 against the Lions and then teams decided to go back to picking their poison again.

However, I am with you on wanting to evaluate Pickens one more year before committing long term. Let him play on the tag this year and see how it goes.

So True, but would you pay GP3 more money than CD Lamb. Lamb averages 34mil a year and would want his contract redone. I think CD Lamb is a true #1, While GP3 is good but the question I got is...did GP3 benefit because Lamb was on the field... Can GP3 be a true #1 on his own without a CD Lamb for an entire season. Would he be just as good at Cleveland, Raiders, Titians, or the Saints

Double team is part of life as a WR in the NFL. JJ has had this issue for the last couple of years and hasn't shown this level of disinterest GP did, and I am a supporter of his. This isn't about frustration with stats, it's 100% about GP now, even trying to play his position...big difference

Good Post, you just have to find a way to keep this advantage rolling on offense. Pickens played like a true number 1, while Lamb was out injured. Do your contract restructures free up money and find a way. It is time to do what Ol Jerry says and go all in, break the bank in free agency, bring in 5 high quality first week top free agents. An offensive tackle and the rest defense, the loss of Jourdan Lewis at the nickel corner position needs fixed and that is a glaring problem. Get some high quality at linebacker, edge and safety. Try to win it all in the next couple of seasons, this team could be a juggernaut with Lamb and Pickens staying together, paired with a good defense. Put some blue-chip defensive players on this roster as well, let's go all in.

I like Javonte because he exemplifies what I want in my players. Just does his job no matter what is asked and he’s reliable. I can count on him to get me positive yardage regardless of the circumstance.
Hes a high character type with work ethic and professionalism. 4.6 GPA in high-school. JW is the kind of player who helps you win a lot of games.
