Cowboys source, Cowboys close to deal with Osa $21 Million a year

OSA might not start on other teams. Fact. He'd be a rotational piece. Not that he's bad. He's actually a good serviceable player, seems to stay healthy. Which is good. But let's not act like his ceiling is yet to come. I think we are seeing his ceiling. If we are good with that, fine. I find it hard to believe we couldn't find another player somewhere just a skocsh better and cheaper. Maybe it's just me.

Come on man lol. Osa isn’t Aaron Donald, Jalen Carter etc.

But he starts on 29-30 teams. Outside of Philly I can’t think of one, I put 29 because somebody will say another team

He was able to beat his block within 2.5 seconds on 11 percent of pass-rushing snaps, ranking 12th in win rate among defensive tackles, according to ESPN Analytics.

I like Osa, and 21 doesn't seem so bad with the big increase in the cap...
I like him. But not for the asking price. We can find 2 players at the same position for the price. What he does doesn't stand out. One thing he does do is stay healthy and available. Love his desire, work ethic. He's very quiet and works. I admire that. I like the kid, but in this business, it's about finding better production for a better price. Just think maybe we are banking on the wrong player.

Depends. Dak's "market value" was nowhere near 60 mil. Pure greed.
Well, he owed it to “the brotherhood.” Lol.

Meaning….his agent wanted another record deal for his own trophy case and had the leverage to get it when Stephen runs around saying things like “we haven’t prepared for life without Dak,” they expecting a discount because of some ‘loyalty’ crap that Jerry likes to live by.

I dunno, I see things cracking already with the way Dak speaks defensively, same with Jerry. I see this getting ugly over the next couple of years, and some people being exposed for what they truly are now that the division is no longer going to lay down for them.

They are truly in the middle of nowhere. Not in a rebuild, yet nowhere near being able to contend for a deep playoff run. Exactly where you don’t want to be.

I respect you 1000% and you may be right. But so far, I haven't seen it.

I hear you.

I am not a fan of dropping $20 on him. I’d prefer to sign Kinlaw $8-$10, Poona Ford $2-$3 million and another guy like Dante Fowler.

I like Osa. But I don’t love spending that much.

Now we talkin :flagwave:. Let's go get Kinlaw or Poona, which wouldn't preclude us from taking a great DT or DE in this draft. I want to be 3 freaking deep along the dline with studs. Lol. Then let them battle in camp to determine the pecking order.

This can go one of two ways….

If it took until year four for the light to go on and he is going to be that player from here, he is worth retaining.

If he stepped it up only to get the bag, they are in trouble.

Still, it just irritates me that if he wasn’t already on the team they would never consider signing him….and probably wouldn’t even know who he was. Every GM ought to be familiar with nearly every player in the league. Anyone think that’s the case with our GM/s? The disadvantage is absurd.

Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Most super bowl winners have a deep and talented DLine. The Legion of Boom was not the Legion of Boom w/o that 5 deep DT rotation. As w/ the 90's Cowboys super bowl winners, their backup DTs would've started for most teams.

Correctamundo. What some are failing for some reason to accept is, you don't get the ring unless you build your team the way you and I are talking. The sexy wr is wonderful during September, but I have yet to see wr be the straw that stirs the drink in the post season. It almost never happens anymore. Every year it's the same, the dominant lines are winning big games, becoming the bully. We need to become the bully .

The NFL made this league a wide open passing attack. Why? Chicks dig the long ball.

Sooooooooooooo, what they didn't count on is that high flying passing attacks are extremely susceptible to pressure, especially inside pressure.

Yes, Mahomes, I know, but the biggest reason KC won 3 super bowls in 4 years is Chris Jones. Yes, that one player on D makes that much difference.

Exactly. To your point, look at what a deep, stout interior dline did to the Chiefs in the SB. They never could get going. At every level, the eagles had the ability to have no drop off, no matter who was in the game. Big, nasty, talented waves of lineman on the Dline is where they won it, and they did that all year. Mahomes was dejected the entire game. So couple stout Oline with running game, a good bus driver at QB, then the d we speak of, nothing flashy or cutting edge is required.
