Am I the only one that feels foolish that Ellis had been wasting his time at DE his whole career? Who would have thought the guy is a pass rush demon at the OLB position? Geez.

How true. He is an animal at that position.

Ellis is something else, 9 years on and he's at his best and playing great.
There was a lot of animosity amongst fans toward him because his contract dispute, but I can easily look past that with the way he's playing.

I love me some offense but the defensive stats are by far my favorite.

We have a ton of INTs this year (2nd as a team in total) and the sacks from Ellis and Ware are impressive.

I'm pretty sure Campo feels pretty silly, but he's always like that.

In the 4-3 Ellis had to be an end, he wasn't built for the Jimmy Johnson/Dave Wannstedt/Butch Davis/Dave Campo/Mike Zimmer speed attack that utilized small quick speedsters like Dexter Coakley and Ken Norton.

He was a Tony Tolbert type DE but in the 3-4 he drops back as a heavier outside backer because they need more girth in that scheme and present different pass rushing opportunities.

Likewise people like Chris Canty would probably not excel as 4-3 DEs.

Ellis hasn't been wasting time at DE... just in Zimmers read and react D...

If you've noticed, he's been getting a lot of his sacks playing the DE position this year... he's just attacking the QB instead of having to worry about the run..

That's a good point. It's not like he is really good at dropping in coverage. It probably was more a problem with the scheme than with the position he was playing.

I am so thrilled when I look at team or individual stats and find the Cowboys or a Cowboy close or near the top...that ole worm has finally turned
