Cowboys Stupid Mistake Rating, Week 11

I like this. It is simple, easy to track, and gives everybody just another little bit of perspective on things.

I think some fall victim to thinking this should be a definitive measure of a team's success. It isn't and shouldn't be examined as such. It is just another tool to get a general idea on where things stand as far as stupid mistakes.

Not bad as far as simplistic stats go.

There's no question that this metric doesn't fully explain success -- thus the NO, KC, and, to a lesser extent, Dallas exceptions. But it does, IMO, generally track well with success and failure so I think the KC, NO, Dallas exceptions become very interesting in terms of this metric rather than deadly to it. I definitely think this has something to do with both relative success and measuring 'stupidity' or something like it.

It just shows end of the day you need talent that can make plays in this league.

New Orleans has that talent and can overcome penalties and turnovers. KC doesn't and they can barely get 10 yards in 4 plays much less 3.

--- As an added note though it will be interesting t6o see how NO fairs versus better teams like NE. Stupid mistakes do usually doom you eventually.
