At the beginning of the season, I came up with an idea for a new stat, which I'm calling the Stupid Mistake rating. The formula is giveaways x 6 + # of penalties.

Against the NYG, we had one of our biggest anomalies. While this may or may not correlate well with winning and losing overall in the NFL, it has until last week for the Cowboys specifically -- our best scores were in wins and our worst scores came in losses. Until now. This is the first time this season we've performed well in this rating and lost. We had one giveaway and five penalties for 11 points, which is well less than the league's average. This brought our overall average down to 15.83, which is 14th in the league. Overall, we were dead last in the league in 2008 using this rating so we've gotten better.

San Diego is the best in the league and it's not that close.

League worst (Carolina): 21
League average: 16.24
Cowboys: 15.83
