excited about the direction this team is going...young guns...alot of'em home grown.
reason to be excited in my opinion.

The roster still has flaws due to personnel philosophies dictated by coaches, etc. They've done well at certain spots - CB, OL, etc. But they've mismanaged other places.

There's no reason, for example, for this team to have only taken one DT in the last two drafts and it was a 7th round pick, mind you, who probably won't even make the team in Joey Ivey.

only took 3 replies to jump on Garrett, great.

Do you not think Garrett had a very large part in acquiring that talent?

He does have a role in acquiring talent.

But that's only part of his job. One can't wash away on the field failures because Garrett has helped acquire some good players. If that's the case, just make him the GM then.

For the sake of not turning this into another thread to debate Garretts merits I will simply say I disagree with your perspective

Despite what the negative Nancy’s say, the front office has been constructing a nice roster of young kids that will only improve.

Younger doesn't mean better. Having a low floor doesn't mean they have a high ceiling. There have always been huge question marks about the middle of this defense throughout the Garrett era, and nothing has changed in that regard.

The WR corps hasn't been upgraded. The best case scenario is that Hurns "matches Dez's production".
Tight end looks abysmal.
No depth at LB or Safety.
Big question marks on the interior of the defensive line.

With that said, they upgraded the depth on the offensive line, RB looks to be a huge strength, and I'm very optimistic about the CB situation.

Interesting perspective. I like it.

I am curious. What do you disagree with? That he has has a hand in player acquisitions and because they've made some good picks it covers up the fact his teams have not performed OR that his teams simply have not performed?

There were some losses that I hate to see like Witten but I liked how our draft turned out and I like some of the pickups in FA but more important is young players who were in their 1st and 2nd year of play who have more experience under their belts

Tight end is abysmal? One a rookie, one appearing in only one game and the other seldom seeing the field. Just what do you base that opinion on? Tea leaves?

For all the complaints about Dez, Beasley, Williams, Butler and others you would have thought you could grab 4 receivers from a nursing home and do better, now we get 4 new receivers and it's automatically no better?

Way too early to be so pessimistic, but if that's the way you see it, guess you better not watch any of the games this year....

assumption

Assumptions?

With what do you disagree?

S is a big question. They only have 3 Ss on the roster - Heath, Woods and Frazer. One is a 2nd year player with promise, another is a limited in the box type S and the other is probably nothing more than a good back up and dime type DB. So at S, not only is talent an issue, there is really little depth there.

WR is a real question. Expecting Hurns to morph into something he's really never been is a reach. Williams and Beasley are what they are. Gallup is the one guy with upside and he's a rookie and rookie WRs rarely make big impacts. I guess people think Thompson and/or Austin are going to outpace their career stats and light it up here?

LB depth is a concern, especially considering that you are counting on Smith and LVE to fill huge holes. What happens if one or either isn't as good as we hope? There isn't much depth there.

And I am not sure how one can argue DT is just fine, especially with Collins having to come back from another broken foot and Irving one screw up from a much longer suspension.

There's a pretty wide, yet safe, position here between these position groups suck and the idea that we don't have some real question marks facing the roster.

Not necessarily, just don't see it as "will only" improve, doubtful all of them will pan out...

Do you not think Garrett is a very large reason this team hasn't won a Super Bowl?
Until Garrett actually accomplishes something I'm going to bash him every chance I get.
