This won't take long. He'll be signed by the end of the weekend.

It says the Cowboys offered that, not that he accepted it.

I thought there was a 3 year cap on all contracts from the 2nd round on as part of the CBA. Guess not.

I was thinking there was a 3 year cap from the third round on at least. I'm almost certain that there is some sort of language in the CBA that limits the terms of rookie contracts.

im pretty sure for a first rder its like 5 years max. something like the top 5 or 10 can get a 6 year or something along those lines. 5 years 10 mill isnt much for a guy who should be contribute immediately, and 2-3 years from now be doing some pretty big things. hes gonna make like 1.5 mill and be a defensive stud.

wow, that just seems so low to me, the spurs just signed some unknown kid to play center named jackie butler for 3 years and 7 million dollars. basketball players make a hell of a lot more than football players!

basketball teams have much shorter rosters than football - three years 7 million is nothing in the NBA.

Pollack signed a 5 year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals worth up to $13 million, with $7.65 million in guaranteed money last year one pick higher at the same position.

Erasmus James signed for 5 years, $9.6975 million, with $6.8 million guaranteed. At the #18 spot last year.

In contrast, Mario Williams signed a six-year, $54 million contract, with $26.5 million guaranteed over the first two years.

Compared to Alex Smith signing for 6 years, $49.5 million, with $24 million guaranteed.

Reggie Bush is reportedly looking for more money guaranteed than Williams.

I think Carpenter and the Cowboys will find a happy medium. Somewhere between the 10M and 13M.

The Cowboys and rookie defensive end Marcus Spears agreed to a five-year contract on Saturday. The deal is worth $9.35 million and includes guarantees of $6.7 million, according to an ESPN.com report. The Lone Stars selected the former LSU star with the No. 20 overall pick in April's draft.

Pollack's contract was worth only $9.45 million before incentives. Carpenter's contract should be around $10 million before incentives.

The one guy's post I was looking for :) Adam is 5yrs at 10 sound like a good deal for the 18th pick? What kind of signing bonus is he looking at? I don't know jack about contracts I just want our draft picks in camp. It sure seems like the numbers drop dramatically once you get past the first 5 or so.
