I know its early in the season, but the Cowboys currently have the 4th best offense AND defense in the league (based on yardage gained/given). Also of note, we have the 2nd best run d behind......SF.

I realize 3 games a trend does not make but I like the consistency so far. If we can keep this balance attack up, our future looks bright.

I really don't care offensive and defensive ranks (for the most part) in yards gained/allowed. SD was #1 in both of those last year. Now top 5 scoring offensive/defensive would be outstanding.

Its just saying we are one of the Big boys in the NFC. We at least have a chance this year.

Seattle and Raider don't have a real chance this year.

New England is 1st in offense and 31st in defense. Consistency.:laugh2:

j/k

I actually disagree to an extent with this part:

I think SD's problems last year was the special teams. They actually got stops defensively and in addition to the number 1 ranked offense in yards gained/allowed, they were ranked 2nd in the league in scoring. They were 10th in scoring defense which is still pretty solid.

That's correct. But it wasn't some statistical smoke and mirrors. They didn't lose games because of that. They lost games because of their special teams.

We are 1-1. W and L are only things I care about.

Great point, yards don't matter at all. On offense, more yards might just mean we're always starting in crappy FP and go 40 yards before having to punt. If the defense is always taking the field in bad territory, they might only give up 30 yards for a TD.

Yards is a really poor way to judge a team.

Hey Emp, this is true but you have to admit, there is more to look at than yards alone?

Yes, the scoreboard.

Personally, I like Jim Johnson's philosophy. Have all the yards you want. When it comes to the red zone, it's all about points.

4th best defense? wait, the NFL is playing defense this year? I haven't seen any.
