Great, part of the process. We'd have been crazy not to. Got him cheap for the next year. Hopefully another training camp under Rod will help him become an even better player than he was last year. He can be disruptive at times.

Not for another two years unless he signs early with the Cowboys.

if he puts up double digit sacks, we're probably gonna have to pay him. someone will likely try to take him if we slap him with a basic tender.

The first-round tender is actually almost $4 million - $3.91 million to be exact this year (will likely be even higher next year). That would scare off most potential suitors. Plus we can always match.

He took over a couple games last year. If he starts doing that more consistently, a 2nd round tender as a RFA sn't going to stop anybody. Dallas should plan on locking him down next year on a 5 year deal.

Also, buy low. Don't wait until he's getting 10+ sacks. At that point, he's a $15+ mil per year guy and now you can't have a rotation on DL because a single player costs as much as 4 guys.

It's nice to get blind lucky once in a while with a player like Irving.

Careful. Weve jumped the gun a few times with this plan. Sometimes it works, sometimes it blows up in our faces.

Personally I kind of view 3m as getting paid....LOL
Agree on the 3 mil, I don't even know what I'd do with that, maybe buy a nice cabin by a lake and all the fishing tackle I could never afford. I get that these kids get what the market dictates, but whew, sometimes I have to take a step back.

4 sacks, 26 qb hurries,5 pass deflections,4 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery,,, Damn right I'm a #95 fan especially when he's the left DE,,, pair that cat with C Tapper and oh,baby! It could be fearsome .
