Not sure if this is right forum, but who knows the rules on tv? When will they not show a Cowboys game in Houston if both teams are playing at the same time?

I believe it's Texan home games when they are on the same time.

It's Texans games period. No other teams games are on in the home market when the home team is playing whether at home or on the road.

Week 9 and 17 is the only week that Houston plays at home the same time that Dallas plays.....so we will miss two games on local TV here.

  • If a local club's broadcast is at home in the early game of a doubleheader, the other network (which shows the single game) may only show a game during the late time slot
  • If a local club's broadcast is at home in the late game of a doubleheader, the other network (which shows the single game) may only show a game during the early time slot
  • If a local club is playing at home, and the broadcast is shown by the single game network, the other network (which shows the doubleheader) may only air one game in that market; either early or late (the slot which the local club is not playing)
  • If a local club is playing away, and the broadcast is shown by the single game network, the other network (which shows the doubleheader) may air both of their games
  • If a local club is playing on the road on the doubleheader network, the other network can air its single game in the same time-slot opposite the local club's game. However, affiliates in the local club's primary market almost always opt against it because such an action usually ensures low ratings. The "no opposing game" policy is a key reason why single game fixtures on the east coast are occasionally scheduled for the late time slot
Not sure how the last part affects Hou and Dallas, but I have seen them on TV at the same time when Houston is on the road.

Yeah it's only when the texans play at home at the same time. Every now and then late in the season there are occasional exceptions for some reason (ratings).

the "like" is for the sig picture...love it

Here is a link for televised games in your areas, they usually show up on Thursdays. So on September 4th, click the link to the 9/7 games, and you will see a map of the USA showing what games are on in what regions.
The gray areas are the double header weeks for that network.

I'll take your word for it, then.

.... and thus my username was created over 10 years ago....lol....but with all the streaming sites it's a non-issue these days...

I'll be interested to see how our o-line fares against Watt and Clowney.

I'm just curious...did you even read the OP or did you just say who cares what question is being asked, i'll just say what i feel? I find it odd that it seems so many people now just read the title of a thread and respond without even trying to read the post, kind of you know annoying.

I did read it. Settle down.

the nfl rule is when the texans are at home no game is to be showns at the same time. But I've seen a few times over the years that the local fox/cbs stations in houston chosse bnot to show the cowboy game regarless. If there is a double header on cbs fox will choose to show anothergames besides the cowboys. Not often but I've seen it happen.
