Laugh all you want, our special teams gives up a lot of invisible yardage that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. Bruce Read's kickoff coverage left a lot to be desired, our punt returns were always a fiasco, and outside of Felix Jones we got aboslutely no spark from our ST.

If they make a moderate improvement we will be a much better team. Our defense will start with offenses backed up instead of on our 35/40. Carrying 2 kickers is fine by me, especially if Chuck Norris can boom them like they say he can.

Special teams win championships !

JJ, Wade stated things were going to change. I think they have directed the team in a positive direction.

1) Weaknesses like TO and forcing the offense through him, at the expense of the ground game and turnover prone Romo is addressed.

2) Our poor coverage units the last few years is unacceptable, especially if you plan to play more field position ballgames. Solid line of thinking with the draft of developmental players and ST, HUNGRY husslers.

3) Extra kicker with a big leg is another bonus. How many times last year did Dallas gain the momentum, only to have a KO returned to the 40 yard line?

This team is moving in the right direction. Less flash and more fundamentally sound. IMO, Jerry is getting it.

We make the playoffs if the defense doesn't give up 2 back to back 80 yd runs to Baltimore. :bang2:

the thing I most want to see fixed is punt-coverage

for our returners

they almost never see lanes to make returns, they always seemed to be enveloped by defenders as soon as they touch the football

I don't know about special teams winning championship but I know it has cost us games as teams have had some big returns on us setting up for easy points. That takes the wind out of a teams sails after scoring only to see the other team setup shop on your end of the field.

I have no problem with improving our special teams. They really do give up too many positive plays for the other teams and they certainly give up too many big time plays that ultimately cost us games.

LOL all "changes" that should have been addressed 2 years ago.

weaknesses that Wade brought to the cowboys & never should have needed correcting to begin with.

sorta like being proud of having running water in your house.

trending a day late & dollar short as usual

Didnt we give up a quick 7 to Arizona in the opening minutes of the game THEN gave up another quick 7 at the end of the game? both special teams failures?

Not to mention on the blocked punt we lost McBriar for the season.

STs play a huge role and can't just be an after thought. If we have drastically improved our ST play then we are just that much more dangerous.
