TRADED Cowboys trade for George Pickens and 2027 6th for 2026 3rd and 2027 5th

teams biggest need was DT, a good DT, not Mazi and a 7th round pick. we still have holes in LB group. but I am sure you are going to tout Shermar. we have two UDFA at saftey and the other two are cooked and all three CBs are coming off injuries. and you are saying #2 WR was the biggest need?!!!

geez people...
We were never going to draft another DT early this year. Mazi either pans out or he doesn't (which is likely.) We did resign Osa who is talented, which was a surprise to most.

As far as DB, what else do you expect the team to do? You have two starting caliber DBs in Diggs and Bland regardless of them coming off injuries. And we still drafted a starting caliber DB in an early round (who is also coming off an injury.) And we still went out and got a young early round pick capable of starting at times. And we still have Carson from last year as well. Did you really think we were going to also trade for a pro bowl DB on top of all that?

We probably expect Markquese Bell and Mukuamu/Juanyeh to step up and compete with Hooker/Wilson. But yes, Hooker and Wilson both are closer to starting caliber at their position than any receiver not named CeeDee Lamb. We had CeeDee Lamb and a bunch of #4's last year and it showed. Brandin Cooks was our second best receiver on the team and he was not very good. No one could get open and Dak would hang on to the ball way too long and got beat up as a result. That stalled our entire offense (on top of not having a run game early on but at least that improved.)

Also nobody is touting Shermar at LB. Don't be dense. We weren't going to be able to address every position. I am not defending the entire offseason, I am just saying that WR was a massive need. The fact is the Cowboys added a lot of fringe starters at linebacker who are going to have to compete. Overshown is a positive starter when healthy. Kenneth Murray is good enough to start. Obviously we like what we have with Liufau. Sanborn is also a very good depth piece. Yeah it would be great to add a pro bowl at DB and DT and LB all in one offseason but I don't think that's magically going to happen with all the other needs we had on top of it.

Behind CeeDee Lamb we had the worst WR room in the NFL by far. When you are talking about guys like Ryan Flournoy and Jonathan Mingo stepping up, you don't have a body you can throw out there and try to compete against good teams. Period.

Did you not see the part about the future? I would not mortgage the future for a present that will top out at mediocrity even with the addition of a troubled WR.
Are you the type of fan that would tear down the entire team every four years if a Super Bowl did not appear imminent?

Living forever in the future, keeping your powder dry, for a “guarantee” is a sure fire way to never achieve anything.

Football isn’t a simulation where you can just hit the reset button whenever you want. You’re never going to have pro bowl players at every position. Sometimes you just have to work with what you have and take some chances.

that's the mistake. not wanting to admin Mazi is a failed pick and sticking to it until end of contract regardless of the play. that's what Jerry does. he is spending money and 1st round pick for Mazi, and doesn't want to pay more, get an actual starter and Mazi being back up which is all he deserve.

Hooker and Wilson are below average Safties. their backups even worse.

I would put DT, LB, Saftey as bigger need than WR. does it make the offense better? my issue with this trade is that its a one year deal. was this team one player away from being a championship team? if not, then why make this move. traded a mid to high 3rd round pick for an essentially 4th round pick.

Is it a day two pick? What rounds are picked on day two? Do you really think there's a huge difference between a late round 3rd or a mid round third? Hint: There isn't. Does GP get us closer to the SB? Yes, he improves the team. Do I think they're winning the SB? No I don't. But to sit here and says GP doesn't improve the team is just idiotic. And this has nothing to do with Jerry and his idiot son. They're the reason why we've been in a drought for 30 years, but I can also recognize a positive move when I see it. This offseason has been very positive compared to the last 5-10.
there is a difference. and its not just a 3rd, its also the 5th round pick. and how does a one year rental get us closer to a superbowl? if you are going to trade down like you said then trade for a player that gets us closer to the superbowl, otherwise why do it at all? jerry does it to appease the fans, and put arses in seats.

GP will improve the offense. no championship for this team. then GP is gone...so we should celebrate regular season, because that's the best this team can be? we knew going into the season that defense was the biggest issue with this team. its been the issue for years. we resigned our own Osa. and bunch of JAGs. and didn't make the defense better to have a chance to compete. but keep pouring resources into offense. why? because offense sells. offense is sexy.

I even objected to Booker pick. and everyone is calling me sour puss. but a RG is not a formula to championship team. in the past 15 years. 60 teams in CCG games. not one had 3 first round OL men on the team. but having a good defense helps get you there. Philly was #1 defense last year. ate Mahomes lunch in superbowl and harrassed him. their first 5 pick in the draft was defense.

Is booker going to be a good player? absolutely. but you don't pick a RG with the 12th pick of the draft. you can get guards in mid rounds. and everyone will point to Eze in the second round and call it a day. in the meantime, like I said, Philly focuses on picking defensive players that make an impact to winning championships, like DeJean, Mitchell, Carter, Smith, Davis....they went DT two years in a row, we pick Mazi and call it a day. they go after top notch Defensive players in FA. we make trade for cast offs and JAGs on one year deals.

this off season is similar to when MM came on board...jerry making coaching changes, because the team had sucked, so he generates hope. same as when garrett was signed and then resigned...or when we got parcells, same as any other time jerry has changed coaches. two years from now, this coaching staff will be lame duck coaches, waiting for the last year of their contract to play out, so jerry can wash, rinse, repeat.

sorry, folks want to celebrate an above average off season compared to the previous year....go ahead. enjoy. I don't have to celebrate mediocrity.

We are being laughed at.

Multiple NFL teams reportedly “laughed” at the idea of adding Steelers WR George Pickens to their roster and inviting him into their locker room amid his reputation for being a head case, per @jeffphowe

“Word leaked during the draft that Pickens was available if anyone wanted him. Some teams polled by The Athletic at the time laughed at the idea of inviting Pickens into their locker room for any price, let alone a second-day draft pick. There wasn’t a lot of interest in talking with the Steelers about a trade,”

Pickens is ready to prove the haters wrong.

If you call that trade mortgaging the future that pretty much says it all.
its not mortgaging the future. its a move that will not result in this team being a championship calibur team. its a pure marketing move. one year rental. a team that at best, at best is a playoff team and then fizzle out just like the past few years because the defense remains a liability. its a move that fans like you drool over. offense is sexy. it sells tickets and merchandise.
