TRADED Cowboys trade for Joe Milton

I dont think there's a lot out there we could get for a 5th and have any faith. Most are happy to get a guy who has potential at that price. That's my feeling at least.
Yeah, it's fine. I don't really care too much one way or the other. Guys similar to him generally do not pan out. I wish we'd take him and use him in the old Slash role, I bet he'd be good at that.

2024 Coop had a 6 yard average. The average for the top 10 QBs was between 6.7 and 8.8.

I know...it doesn't tell the whole story...but...
yeah, that's yard per attempt but that average made him 36th.
look at Y/C he was 9.9 making him 33rd!!!! top 15 was 11 Yards and above. so some may say, its only 2 yards, it doesn't matter, but its comparing to how everyone else did in the league and its not good.
yards per game he was 34th, completion % he was 34th, int% he was 28th (he did a lot of safe dump off throws), his rating 29th, QBR 33rd,

so he wasn't any good. and I am going to go with the same argument many others make...he sucked against better teams. I mean really suck. did it against carolina, and giants and other crap teams.

and I am sure. 100% people will say he only cost 3M vs. Dak 60M....and this is not comparing Dak vs. Rush, etc....this is just looking at Rush and where he stands.....but but but people will say, for the 3M we could get so many weapons with the 57M.... which we know doesn't happen given we have money on the cap and Joneses are holding on tight....

the only salvation for cowboys is to get lucky and find "mahomes" and I seriously doubt if Mahomes would success in Dallas. I think even with a Mahomes type QB, the ceiling is NFCCG.

this team is so bad, so many holes and has been drafting bad the past couple of years and its depleted. nobody can save it.

He cost less than that. The Cowboys got back a 7th, the first pick in that round.
Meh. 7th round picks are mostly worthless. Good for getting a camp body in, usually nothing more than that. They make a big deal out of it when a 7th rounder does well because it's so rare.

However, my point remains. We gave up a 5th for a backup QB who could develop, I'm fine w/ the trade.

Yeah, even the "WE'RE SO GREAT AT DRAFTING" crowd has mostly gone silent. You can only have so many Kelvins and Schooners before your team starts degrading.

usually you can recover from one bad draft...but two in a row like we have had. losing FAs and retirees and not signing any, has totally depleted this team. between Mazi, Schooner and overshown being injured more than he played...we totally screwed the 23 draft. 24 wasn't much better. the only bright spot was Beebe if he pans out. I am not sold on Guyton and experiment at LT has to end.

And the 22 draft is Tyler and Fergie and a bunch of reserves. Not much there either.

It's the first pick in the 7th and points wise the Cowboys gave up the equivalent of a mid high 6th round pick.

Although I don't believe in Milton, I have zero hate for the guy. Don't know him, no reason to hate him. Hope he pans out.

Since we only gave up a 5th, and we had 3 of them, don't mind the draft pick.
We don’t have a choice.

Grier is the better of the two.

Milton played 6 seasons of NCAA and still can’t throw.

That draft bio of his is brutal.

Anytime you have the word “disturbing…” in your bio….

at least Tyler is a probowler and top 5 and ferguson was good until last year, but everyone sucked last year.

if you get 2 players like that every draft, then we should be good. imagine if we had 4 players like smith and fergi in 23 and 24. lets say a DT, LB, WR and RB.... how different would this team be.

You won't find me disagreeing!!!!!!!!!!

I think the Pats were shocked they got ANYTHING for him.

I’m just curious why the hate for this guy before he’s even played a down? For the fans not happy with getting Milton, what is your idea of a prototypical 3rd string developmental QB?

Would the fans that are unhappy with Milton would you have rather used the 12th or 2nd round pick on a QB? If so why? Dak is here for 2 years minimum and most likely 3 years. By that time the rookie QB contract will be almost used up.
I’ve been a fan for 50 years and I’ve never seen backup QBs get as much hate as Lance and Milton. And Milton hasn’t even played yet!

Is this fan base so insecure about Dak that any QB that is athletic is going to be hated? This is kinda weird. It’s almost like fans are cool with QBs signing here that they have a comfort zone with. Rush, Dalton, Grier, Sanchez. Either guys with little ceiling or guys that are on the way down can back up Dak. Any young guys with physical potential is not welcome.

Milton is 6’4, mobile QB, who can throw the ball 80 yards, won a game in the NFL, has accuracy issues and is raw. We got him for basically free. We dropped 46 spots in the draft and are paying 1 million APY. I literally can not think of a better situation for a 3rd string developmental quarterback. So again, the fans that are unhappy about this, what exactly are you looking for. Realizing every team keeps a QB1, QB2 and QB3. So we need bodies in the QB2 and 3 spots. So someone has to be in the roster behind Dak. That’s just a fact. So if you’re not happy with Milton for 1 million APY and essentially a 6th round investment, then what would make you happy for the QB3 position? Not trying to argue but I’m genuinely confused and surprised anyone would be unhappy with this.
They fear he will be better than Dak, just as they were about Trey Lance. Or any other QB that may be brought in. The potential is there.
