TRADED Cowboys trade for Joe Milton

LOL......do we know how much real interest the Pats received? It's pretty obvious now the 3rd round rumor was a lie. Maybe the "multiple offers" were too
I think there were teams kicking the tires, but the 3rd round thing… 100%. They basically traded him for what they drafted him with. Maybe it had to do with not having someone to make Maye look over his shoulder. Could be that he looked good against a team that was trying to lose, but in practice was otherwise was just a guy. Didn’t cost Dallas much either way, better deal than Lance

Is he better than Rush?
He's got all the tools to be a NFL QB. It's just a matter of aligning the tools in the toolbox IMO.
His scouting report had some nice positives, but the negatives IMO are why a 6'5 240lb QB with some foot speed fell to the 6th round.

I don't mind the trade, due to the asset given up.

Still, after playing the future of the franchise only three snaps, the 193rd overall pick in the 2024 draft was impressive in a 23-16 victory. Milton ranked seventh in total QBR (73.9) and eighth in EPA per drop-back (+0.23) among 31 qualified quarterbacks in Week 18. Based on my charting, the rookie quarterback registered 10 plus plays to 4.5 minus throws/decisions, with some real signs of growth in his footwork, release quickness, and downfield accuracy.

Although it's only one game vs. backups, Milton showed real progress with his drop-back footwork and accuracy, registering a +22.5% completion percentage over expectation, the second-highest mark by a QB in any game this season. He was a functional in-structure quarterback who was hitting the layups, flashing solid progression reads while keeping the throwing hallway aligned to his targets with a balanced base to throw the ball accurately.

There were times when Milton was still a tick late to pull the trigger, but the power in his arm often made up for it. Some quarterbacks have to anticipate to make up for a lack of arm strength. The rookie doesn't have that problem, so Milton can confirm what he's seeing post-snap for an extra half-beat. The other nitpick was seeing the voids in the coverage to anticipate receivers uncovering, which is the next step for Milton.

I guess this means no to Shedeur or Milroe
Milroe is essentially dak with good wheels for someone who hates our QB as much as you do you'd think you'd want an upgrade. And Shaduer was unlikely an option and he isnt much better than Milroe IMO i believe Travis hunter was the real gem of colorado. This year isnt the year for Daks replacement next year is better but Im not sure we will be in a position for the blue chippers.

This is a no risk move I believe and there is upside. Dak was always going to be here in 25 lets see how training camp etc plays out.

I hate to be Mickey here, but if he's so promising, why did NE give him away for essentially the same price they just paid for him?

I mean what was his value? What was Kenny Pickett who had actually starts under his belt.
Different situations. Pickett was traded for a 5th and a backup QB with a smattering of starts; shows the Browns legitimately may start him. But main difference is Pickett only had 1 year of contract left… Milton has 3
