TRADED Cowboys trade for Joe Milton

Milroe wont cost $60m a year
why you worried about the money it isnt yours. I thought your QB evaluations were based on Daks inability to take us to the finish line. Milroe isnt going to upgrade your chances in fact it may lessen it and that's coming from someone who liked the tide

and if memory serves me correct you were not a happy camper when Dak was on his rookie contract but maybe that was for a different reason then. (butthurt romo fan?)

A better phrase may be 'he will be asked' instead of 'he will be taught'. A cadence is something any quarterback does. This trade will look worse if the quarterback involved must be taught to say, "HERE WE GOOOOOO!" :)
Ok, let's bet. If he comes out with "Here we go", we are even. If he comes out with his own cadence, you guys make goofy annoying Coogie a mod. Bet?

His NFL.com Draft Profile from last year:

Overview

Rare physical specimen with the proverbial "arm talent to make all the NFL throws," but he's prevented from doing so by a lack of timing, accuracy and touch. Milton is gifted with a cannon for a right arm and can throw the ball as hard or as far as you want. His fastballs are often inaccurate and difficult to catch for moving targets, and he was wildly inconsistent locating his deep throws. He can elude pressure, extend plays and put jaw-dropping highlights on tape, but he's never been able to mature his game from splashy to consistent. He's primarily a single-side reader who struggles to improvise with his eyes. The physical ingredients could get him drafted on Day 3, but his lack of development over six seasons discourages his projection.

Strengths

  • Elite size and arm strength are both well beyond positional norms.
  • Throws blazing heat to beat coverage into tight windows.
  • Delivers long off-platform throws with the flick of the wrist.
  • Will stand his ground and take punishing hits to make the throw.
  • Able to keep eyes downfield while deftly sliding around pocket pressure.
  • Posted 32 TDs against just five INTs over three seasons at Tennessee.
  • Strong against potential sacks and escapes the pocket to extend the play.

Weaknesses

  • Disturbing lack of placement and timing as a deep-ball passer.
  • Completed just 38.6 percent of his throws beyond 10 yards (per Pro Football Focus) in 2023.
  • Struggles with anticipatory throws, running receivers into collisions.
  • Telegraphs throws between the hashes, giving safeties an easy jump on the ball.
  • Desires to throw the ball through receivers rather than deliver with touch.
  • Inconsistent tying his feet to eyes and squaring to his targets.
  • Frequently forces moving targets to break stride to try to make the catch.

Drop back 2 rounds to acquire a backup QB. Not a high price.

On a rookie contract, and the Patriots eat his signing bonus. The Cowboys can still draft a QB, and let Milton compete with the draft pick for the primary backup position.
Look. I like the deal too.

But the Pats eating the signing bonus? Really? So what. $180k -- that's 0.066% of the cap.

You'd have to be a very stupid team to be making decisions based on that sort of savings.

There is not enough money in the staff's petty fund to sustain your caffeine addiction.
Hey i'm glad you mentioned caffeine, my iced coffee buddy has been MIA this morning. Something doesn't feel right, usually 3 bashes for coog gets my day rolling. I'm going to inbox him, just to make sure he's ok!!! (coog loves everyone in here!)

Has size and a cannon of an arm similar to Allen however is highly inaccurate and can't anticipate throwing recievers open.

Dont hate the trade for a 5th. Has huge upside but so did Lance and how well has that worked out for him in the league so far...
Yea, but Lance's writing was on the wall.....Jerry just ignored it. The 49ers gave up THREE first-round picks for Lance, but lost total confidence in him after 2-3 years.

We don't know don't know about Milton.......

So NE used a 6th round pick on a QB. They had a 6th round QB pick years ago. Wonder if they wanted to recreate that magic.

So Jerry is thinking,.... no, I want that magic, because we never draft QB's higher that the 4th round .... other than when they had no choice to take Troy. So they will take a 6th rounder and hopefully will not waste this opportunity.

Development for sure huge physicals but raw as hell....BUT Tush Push anyone? i think anydown and 2 is in play with this guy in a tush push

Textbook team building. A masterclass of moves.

Looks like the draft will go up offense. WR, RB and a RG

Site rule #31.

Coog has as much of a chance of being a CowboysZone moderator as I getting a date with Beyonce (don't tell my wife I said that). Whether we are even or not does not matter. I can easily say you were right if we hear Milton doing that nonsense but neither of us would be able to prove he was taught to say it.

Look at it like this. You and I both could take a single snap each with this offense, say, during a practice with Jones' blessing. We could make up a play out of the blue, say 'HERE WE GOOOO!' and 'HUT! HUT!' No instruction involved at all. :p
