TRADED Cowboys trade for Joe Milton

Speaking of griping. I just saw Jeff Cavanaugh acting like an idgit about this trade like he was unmoved by it. I wonder sometimes if that guy knows how football operations actually work. I think he just hates to get clicks sometimes. Anyone who poo poos this trade needs to be checked out to see if they need meds. On any level, this was a nice trade for us.
Yeah. Much better than the Mingo trade. Still smh about that one.

The guy is a very raw talent but again i think he sees the field plenty on short yardage AND this keeps them from reaching in the draft because they need to draft a QB..i dont hate this at all

Remains to be seen if he's a capable backup.

- Cooper Ruah proved that, Milton now has to prove that.

Me - he's pure developmental project until he proves differently. Trey Lance like project development.

- A great deal will also depend heavily on coaching staff and scheme. Ironically it is remains to be seen if we have that kind of coaching that can help develop Milton.

- Preseason gonna be an key early display of how Milton develops and progresses.

-.lve no problem with trading just a mere late round pick for already NFL coached project Qb vs a late round project QB in 2025 draft. This is trusting Mclay and current coaching staff. .
I think they were looking for a guy who could be BOTH developmental and backup. Hell if they wanted a backup, there was/is plenty of that out there. But my guess they wanted a guy with starting potential to sit behind Dak for the next couple of years and see what happens.

Exactly, JC!

The Patriots used a 6th round pick last year in 2024 to draft Joe Milton. Milton only played Week 17 during their last regular season game. But, Jerry once again, gets outsmarted and uses a 5th round pick to trade for Milton? Sounds like yet another team won a trade against Jerry.
I really do not see it as NE winning over Jerry. It may turn out Jerry won this one.
I think it is a decent trade, as no way were they using a higher pick to go QB this year. They get a backup QB with better potential than other QB's that would be available in the 5th or later.

Some could have the same potential, such as Ewers, Howard, Rourke, if they were to drop to the 5th.

However, I do not like giving up draft capital either, but so far the picks they used in trades, those players much better to help the team now, than a rookie. So this year, they did well, so it seems so far.

This draft will and always has come down to what do they do with with their 1st 3 picks. I still would like a small trade down, get 1 or 2 more picks in the 1st 4 rounds. As all the 5th, 6th, 7th, round picks they have they will need to get lucky on.
I believe they now have 8 picks total, when they had 10. But they also got 3 players that can contribute right away.

exactly and im telling you with this guys physicals he will see the field on short Tush Push opps..230 pound monster, if they can get him to stop throwing 10 yard routes 40 yards they may have sommething...

love when a team who only build in the draft throw away draft pick for stupid crap

4th for mingo and lance

5th for a back up qb and a 7

jerry and stephen are almost as dumb as nico harrison

has he told you that in private??? I mean gosh forbid they guy never worked a job or had a boss that he couldn't stand??? He let's ole coog gets to him!??? (he gets to me too, but I can't live without him!)

This confirms things as I feel he's ASSIGNED to me and only me
Don't you remember? I told you before. We all love you, Coog.

It is common for those in rehab to push their loved ones away. We will not give up on you, Coog.

Stopped reading here…
sure you did! I mean Jerry has proven time and time again that even if hes got the cap space he don't spend it.so money isn't an issue. Its front office competence. But i get it 60 million is just the current reason deniers use so they don't have to outright say I hate the guy.

Makes me sound stupid? Was Brady not drafted in the 6th? And yes, Dak was extended and restructured. Did I ever say that he wasn't the starter (when healthy)? Giving a 5th for a guy with all the physical tools in a weak QB draft (along with a 7th) when you have a need for a backup QB is not a bad deal. Trading late round picks which are traditionally dart throws anyway in no way makes us a joke. The only people laughing are the ones laughing at you for saying such outlandish things.
You must have loved the 4 for Lance trade too. Milton has all the physical tools just like Lance. They share the same problem which is the ability to accurately throw the football. Milton’s accuracy beyond 10 yards was awful and the reason why a 6’5” 235 pound guy from the SEC went in the 6th round.

Keep in mind people Jerry and Stephen Jones saw Tony Romo go from an UDFA to an ALL-PRO/Pro Bowl elite QB. Remember Romo sat for a year......
So my guess is they see what happens with Joe within the next couples years
