TRADED Cowboys trade for Joe Milton

I love having qbs that can throw the ball and run.
Can you imagine this big QB with this power running game that's being talked about .There might be a method to Schottenheimer's madness here. This is a completely different team being put together folks ,you talking about running the ball out of the jumbo package at the one for a touchdown or for a pivotal game winning first down. This could work with good coaching .What if these coaches were to take a different approach and use Milton in certain packages in games .If Turpin could make a good double move and take off down the field this guy has the arm strength to hit him in stride from 80 yards.I figure he would be good at running wildcat plays as the Saints run in there offense .

Awesome! Another dumb QB added to roster. If any fan thinks this is an upgrade, they are buying into JJ’s yearly offseason spin. This franchise is a lost cause. 0-17 still in play until they win the first game and then I’ll be pulling for 1-16.
This is Lance all over again. A move that's doomed from the start. Here's a good rule of thumb - if a players stinks in college he will stink in the pros.

The key would be, once we are eliminated from playoff contention, sit Dak and let Joe get his reps. Giving him valuable experience while improving our draft position
I see what you are saying but, in that scenario, if Joe is winning games, he's not improving our draft position.

Wait and see. It isn't doomed from the start. They got him for pick 171.

Not sure why you would have bad feelings towards Rush. He was a quality backup QB for Dallas. He deserves more respect.

Yeah you can be happy about Milton’s ‘possible’ potential, but c’mon… spare me on Grier…
Rush couldn't throw and he can't run. We now have guys that can throw and run.

I don’t really care about giving up a 4th for Lance but if Trey was not on our roster maybe the Cowboys would have drafted Milton in the last draft because he could have taken that 3rd quarterback roster spot. Supposedly the Cowboys like the kid.
Cowboys took CB Caelen Carson in the 5th round last year. Patriots then took Joe Milton in the 6th round before the Cowboys 6th round pick (where they took WR Ryan Flournoy)

How can you really complain about this?

It’s a 5th round comp pick for a guy with a ton of upside. Rocket arm and can use his legs.

We were not going to spend big money on a backup like Rush or Dalton.

Milton has the most upside of any QB outside of Prescott in forever that’s been in this roster.

We could spend the 5th and hope for what? Stephen McGee? Mike White? Ben DiNucci?

Several teams BID HIGHER than Dallas including the Eagles who run a model franchise.

This is nowhere near the failure of Trey Lance.
You do get who you’re talking with right ? I have seen very little coming from that posters keyboard that isn’t similar

I loathe Jerry as much or more than anyone on this board and he’s the biggest problem with this franchise but when a move is made that has some sensibility like this one I can at least give the thumbs up

Given our current situation as a team there is no downside here

For what it's worth the Cowboys gave up a low 5th round pick, their lowest.

As part of the compensation besides Milton, the Cowboys got the 1st pick in the 7th round.

lol…ok

I’ll grant you that Milton is a bigger threat with his legs than Rush was. That’s something everyone knows already.

But Rush is much better at reading a D, and is more accurate, than Milton at this time.

Milton is far more physically talented, he is not the better QB at the moment. Just facts…

I agree with the Cowboys decision, but it’s not a certainty that Milton will be better
