TRADED Cowboys trade for OT Broderick Jones

They really only gave up a 6th. They just swapped their 3rd for Pittsburgh's 4th in the trade. And they still have a 6th rounder besides that one.

This past year our 3rd was Barham the 4ths were Shelton Moore Overton . Quite a drop off .

They are minus 1 after the trade in picks . Remember you insulted me with your “ math skills line “ . Minus one when you had only five to begin with in a deep draft . Like I said if the ex Steeler doesn’t come in and take over RT it’s a bad trade .

Who cares? Big deal. It's bad to be short at tackle. That's a sure thing. They at least knew that they needed more depth at the position and could still make another move at the position going forward when there is a known shortage league wide.

Broderick isn't healthy; clearly. Even I myself have stated that he wasn't and it would be some time before he gets back into being healthy. Now, this doesn't excuse the basics; slow off the snap, improper hand placement (his arms and hands are always outside; exposing his chest) and consistently ducking his head before engaging a defender in the running game are just but a number of fundamental issues that Broderick Jones still has. Athleticism and physicality are not among them... normally. Due to the injury, we are seeing essentially what half of what Broderick Jones is.


A 100% Broderick Jones is far more worthy of a swing tackle role than a good majority of NFL Swing Tackles. Cutting him only compounds the issue as the Steelers don't have a reliable nor nearly athletic enough option.

Four months of rehab

He participated in camp but his strength and overall conditioning was bad. He’s not regained his weight yet either

Before the injury, e was a bit of a Guyton type project for the Steelers and still has mechanical and technical issues, just like Guyton.

He seems like a good dude but this is a major injury red flag

What it looks like is that he would be emergency depth for later in the season.

This is a gamble but probably worth the price tag. Im fine with a 3rd/4th swap. You need some sort of hope with our tackle depth and he at least does offer some hope.

Major neck surgery? A spinal fusion? That sounds like an insanely risky thing to gamble on.

To me, whether this trade ends up being worth it will largely come down to where their fourth-round pick and our third-round pick fall in the pecking order of next year’s draft.

Based on everything I’ve read, this cat doesn’t sound remotely ready to play meaningful snaps or contribute this year.
