Everyone loved Gruden because he was entertaining on MNF and forgot his last years in TB he was running tryout camp at QB with 5 Rob Johnson’s on the roster.

He’s been a disaster but he’s entertaining so let’s give him a huge deal!

Something people need to understand is every NFL coach has pretty much the same X’s and O’s knowledge. It’s how they call their plays that can be best executed by their players.

heres a very simplified version of what makes Belicheck the greatest in the game.

CBs need to be quick twitch, backpedal and have ball skills. While most coaches and FO just scour the waiver wire trying to find guys, Belicheck realized he had a WR in Troy Brown that had that skill set and created environment for him to succeed. 99% of coaches don’t think that way.

McCarthy did something similar with Ty Montgomery putting him at RB.

Cowboys problem has been trying everyone at multiple positions. The greats are very intentional about moving guys and only do so when necessary so players can master one skill before moving on to another.

Trying everyone at multiple positions?

Don't see that at all. Like most teams we have guys - backups - that play multiple OL positions. We have DTs who also play DE. We have corners who can take snaps at safety.

Every team in the league is like that. Even NE.

I mean I knew this would be the case but for some reason it still upsets me.

Honestly I know nothing about this guy. I just don't understand the reasoning of not doing the minimum like contacting him and/or his agent and getting a feel for his interest, play time and pay expectations, physical status, etc. What could it possibly hurt? What are they doing that they can't put aside a few minutes in a day to kick the tires?
