Twitter: Cowboys Tyler Smith on moving from LG to LT

Smith/Booker are Brawlers; There is a reason why they are both guards, neither has the finesse or arm length to play tackle. Ain't gonna work...

I've already tried to tell them, they just go on repeating their little mantra.

I don't like that attitude of me above the team. Winning comes first. Pro-bowl selections is not a team thing. And besides, what about making the pro-bowl as a LT? Is he afraid to compete?
What about not having the foot quickness to play OLT at a high level?

Get that "afraid to compete" stuff outta here.

There is no clause in Tyler Smith’s contract with the Cowboys that compensates him if he moves from guard to tackle. It’s actually illegal to do so under the cba, per Smith’s representative. It’s not allowed. Smith is paid at the top of the guard market but to tackle is a different tax bracket. He is well aware of the difference.

Smiths arms are not short for tackle. They’re long for a guard

My mantra is replacing Guyton.
Team defensive needs are extreme.
Left tackle equally as extreme.

If you have an option other than moving Smith, using a high draft pick or acquiring a pricey free agent I'm all ears.

If you are comfortable with moving into another of Guytons failed 3 year starter plan at left tackle I'm not sure what's left to say.

He got benched as a rook last year for performance from different oline coaches.

He's been designated this year by a different set of coaches as nothing more than the swing tackle. He's injury prone and average at best when he is healthy.

I'm open to all options that dont include him or Thomas starting 2026.
What say you?

Sounds like another “team-first” guy…hard to understand why the Cowboys haven’t been relevant in 30 years in counting. No problem with organizational culture there…<sarcasm off>.
These players are getting paid a lot of money to play the game and supposedly live their dream; just do what you’re asked for the greater good of the team and be unselfish; but just another in a long line of “me first” players on this team.
