FRISCO, Texas – There are not a lot of positive developments that come out of having 14 players on injured reserve in a season. The Cowboys have found one good thing though, and that's seeing their undrafted free agents step up into contributing roles.

In the last few weeks, there have been instances where as many as seven UDFAs have shared the field at the same time for Dallas. Cooper Rush, Rico Dowdle, KaVontae Turpin and Brock Hoffman are just a few of the glistening examples of the Cowboys finding gems that can play and contribute to winning.

Last week, the Cowboys had 14 players take the field in Carolina who were not drafted, including other starters such as Terence Steele and T.J. Bass, along with special teams contributors Brandon Aubrey, C.J. Goodwin and Trent Sieg.

"I think it reflects to the fact that we've been kicking *** in the eighth round…" Head coach Mike McCarthy said with a laugh. "I'm just proud of those guys, I think they're all examples of it's not where you start, you just keep working and when your opportunity comes, I think they've clearly taken advantage of it, I think that's awesome."

Cowboys kinda remind me of what I heard some women say about a young sexy blonde........she can get men but can't keep them (LOL)
They are excellent at finding and developing free agent and low draft picks but can't keep them

One thing the Cowboys have been good at over time is finding good undrafted FAs

That’s what I consider a football player, a tough guy with a chip on their shoulder. Not just talent, were you think you’re allowed to take a play off now and then? Do I really have to give examples.

Having that many undrafted free agents, could also speak to our current record, lol.

However, atleast a handful of the guys have really stepped up when called on so yes give the team kudos for getting more out of undrafted guys.

having 14 players on the team that are undrafted is bad. that means we are going the cheap route and we are struggling in draft and we are not signing FAs.

now, I get it.....Aubrey, Turpin. people love bass and hoffman and they are servicable linement. but 14!!!!! I doubt if any other successful team in the NFL has this many.

you can find a diamond in a the rough, ala Romo. but building a 1/3 of your team via UDFA, is not a good thing...

Talent is what a man makes of himself...not a fan's self supporting pecking order. If a player performs, end of story.

Like the draft, it also reflects that we don't have other options because we don't use free agency to upgrade the roster.

Dallas is about ave as per a search

How many undrafted free agents make an NFL roster?

Instead, once the draft ends and rookie minicamp begins, anything can happen from how rookies fit into a potential NFL roster. Every year, between 15 and 20 undrafted free agents make NFL rosters every year.May 8, 2024

How many undrafted players are in the NFL?

There are nearly 500 undrafted players currently in the NFL (486 undrafted players made Week 1 53-man rosters),

.....and this late in season, with injuries, udfa numbers go higher?

Look, the cowboys are not going anywhere.
Might as well see the rookies, the UDFAs and our second stringers. Maybe we shall find a diamond in the fluff.

Uh, I suppose they are all professional teams towards the end of their respective seasons. That then means nothing to you now, huh?

Did you cast a budget vote also? Think that as well reach Jerry as a FO? This isn't a German Christmas tradition with a plow through...

How about the team play?

Want a wager on tomorrow night if the crying means anything really?

Do you or do you not support playing time of prior non-stars? Butt, butt, butt, and butt...:hammer:

All these undrafted players contributing....I think you can make the conclusion this adminstration is willing to play anyone....overpay anyone....and they really don't care about the results....as long as butts are in the seats. It's just amazing how this team continues to find ways to pat themselves on the back...while strutting through piss poor results.

Finding these UDFA players is McClay and scouts nothing to do with Jerry . Jerry wouldn’t know Brock Hoffman from Dustin . And the only Bass he knows is on the menu .
