Cowboys' unofficial depth chart week 1( Smith replaced by Bass)

Why so serious?

I was going for the cheap laugh myself and do not wish to jinx Pickens or Lamb by talking about it more than necessary. That said, backups start when starters are sidelined.
They do, but I doubt Brown will even be active to come off the sideline since we're not going to carry six receivers to games and Mingo will likely be the fifth because he plays special teams.

Sorry, if I did not see the humor in your comment.

I wanna know what’s the first play the Cowboys are going to use on offense
I’m thinking, Prescott rolls out to his right,
And hit the receiver coming out of the backfield
Remember the Oakland Raiders,
Back in the 80s
Their first play was deep down the right side line, wake that defense up
They did it quite often

It's cool. Mentioning Camden Brown attracts a variety of responses.

I like the player myself ... better than Lamb's backup. Have no idea what he will become, but he was impressive in the preseason.
It’s remarkable, I’m in New England, Patriots country, but everybody knows Pickens CeeDee Lamb
And now brown, no one’s mentioning mingo

I would suspect that Smith (if he's not IR'd), Brown, Overton, Wheat, Speed and Clark will be the inactives. Of course, that may depend on Bullard's health and whether we like Carson more than Speed on special teams. Wheat and Clark are good special-teammers, too, but I think the other players at their positions are going to be contributing on defense. I mean, would you sit Houston or Lawrence for Wheat or Bell for Clark? Some probably would sit Bell, but he's a better safety than Clark is.

Well, the highlight-reel one-handed TD grab by Brown caught everyone's attention. Mingo had the long TD catch in the preseason but it was a fairly routine catch and run. He didn't have to do anything special, just catch a ball that dropped in perfectly. Not trying to diminish the play, just saying why he isn't mentioned. I think he got noticed more for the special teams play he made where he didn't give up on the play, but even that isn't going to make too many highlight reels.

In reality, that puts a lot of pressure on a player in my opinion, because now expectations, need to be I won’t say elevated but consistent
Look at that great catch that one-handed catch . the best ever some say,
Odell Beckham, look what happened to his career, although he’s back

So who are the inactives?
My guess at the six inactives, assuming Leverett is added to the 53 (the NFL allows six inactives if 8 offensive linemen are active):

-WR Camden Brown, T Drew Shelton, DT LT Overton, LB Tyrus Wheat, CB Ameer Speed, S Alijah Clark

Leverett will likely be called up for the game. In fact, if we put Smith on short-term IR, I expect Leverett to be signed to the 53.
He's a vested veteran so I wonder if they call him up from the ps the first week to keep from guaranteeing his full salary. Then sign him wk 2. But I'm not sure that is kosher.

It is 5 inactives if they go with 8 OLinemen.
