Last meeting
The Commanders secured a berth in the postseason with a 27-6 triumph over the visiting Cowboys in the 2007 regular-season finale.
Streaks
The teams have alternated home victories for the past two seasons, allowing Dallas to maintain its 56-36-2 overall series edge. Check out the historical matchup of the last five games.
Last week
A late Carlos Rogers interception set up the winning touchdown by Santana Moss as the Commanders edged the Cardinals, 24-17. ... Playing in front of a national audience for the second straight week, the Cowboys put forth an impressive performance in beating the Packers, 27-16.
Keep your eye on ...
Commanders' offensive safety valve: When facing a heavy pass rush, the tight end often becomes a quarterback's best friend. An elite tight end can find space in the middle of the field and provide a quick outlet as the QB comes under pressure. With Dallas likely to put the heat on Washington's Jason Campbell, TE Chris Cooley could see plenty balls thrown his way.
Commanders' defensive safety valve: The key to Dallas' offense is the potent combination of WR Terrell Owens and TE Jason Witten. The Cowboys often run Owens on deep sideline routes, while using Witten to attack the deep center of the field. This strategy makes life especially difficult on the opposing team's safeties and Washington's LaRon Landry and Reed Doughty will have to be sharp in their coverage assignments after allowing four TDs to Owens in last year's game at Texas Stadium.
Marion Barber's power: Through three games, the Commanders have proven to be one of the league's best pass defenses. They have played three of the top 10 passing offenses in the league and have allowed an average of 197.3 yards through the air and a total of three touchdowns. They have shown vulnerabilities in their rush defense, however, and Barber will look to take advantage with his bruising style.
Did you know?
In five games against Dallas, Moss has 28 catches for 537 yards and four TDs. ... RB-KR Felix Jones is the first Cowboys rookie to score a TD in his first three games (two rushing, one kickoff return). ... Cowboys CB Terrence Newman has six career interceptions against the Commanders.

There is no doubt we win the game but you know they always find a way to put up a fight and it's always because that pesky Moss and Cooley show up everytime we gameplan around Portis. We win but it's because their offense can't keep up with our offense. They will move the ball, we will create some turnovers as they might as well, but they can't stop us. That stat on Newman having 6 career INT's against the Skins is very interesting. Cooley is going to be very important in this game. If you don't hear much from him and we keep Moss down to maybe 1 big play, which I don't think is even necessary to give up, but it happens, we will totally dominate this game. Portis we know will be game planned for.
