Cowboys vs Dolphins post game thread.

The Cowboys outplayed everyone else's starters. It's been a while since I could say that.

I liked Dunbar, Lemon, Crawford, Silva and Bulter tonight.

Simply cut the third and fourth QB's. Parnell had too many penalties, Holmes needs to complete routes.

Unfortunately, I could not see/hear the game or follow Clove's great play-by-play. Can I please get a quick synopsis? :)

Lemon has continued to make me eat crow for all the doubts I had about him last preseason. With all the plays he has made when given the opportunity I think you have to find a way to get him on the team.

Mario Butler has also earned himself a spot at CB. Very solid for how far down he is on the depth chart.

Andrew Szczerba looks like a decent player at TE but probably loses out to James Hanna due to the later being a draft pick.

Tanner and Olawale is anybody's guess with Dunbar as a (seemingly) pretty good dark horse.

If McGee isn't done I'm surprised. He isn't that much younger than Romo and he still doesn't make his reads fast enough-it doesn't matter how good his arm is if he doesn't throw the ball on time.

Coale is intriguing, but I don't see how you can keep him if you're only keeping 5 WRs. If they're going 6 deep then you need to have him there.

Any news on Dockery, heard he left for personal reasons?

Butler, Silva, and Lemon. Absolutely in love with these guys after this game and from what I've seen from them all preseason. Would love to see them make the team or PS.

Regardless, he appeared to look alot better than in his previous outings. He actually made some pretty solid throws. There appears to be potential there...he just may have to discover his potential elsewhere, that's all.

Tanner is much better on ST's and pass protection than Olawale. I don't think that race is even that close. One or both of the rookies might get to the PS.

Probably playing against other players that won't make their team.

Another feather in the casmith07 cap for saying that Orie Lemon was a player his rookie season.

What they seem to like Olawale for though is being able to get the tough yards down near the goal-line, which is something we've seen some of already during the preseason.

Pass blocking is definitely a concern if he isn't there yet, but that usually takes a little bit of time for RBs to get down. Still love Tanner, but I think that Olawale may offer more utility given that hes better in the redzone.

Dockery's brother in law died in service in Afghanistan last week. I think they were having the funeral today. I imagine he had clearance from the team to leave the game as soon as his work was done to go join his family, especially considering tommorrow is an off day.

Not sure how you would let Lemon or Silva go. They made plays just about every chance they got.

Mcgee is too skiddish and as someone else pointed out, he's very poor at making his reads. He didn't do enough to earn a spot.

Yeah, Lemon and Silva were playmakers in college. These guys are just good football players, IMHO.

McGee's got good athletic ability and will flash just enough to keep you interested (particularly if the lay breaks down), but essentially the game looks just as fast for him today as it did two years ago. He just doesn't seem to have whatever mental skillset it takes to quickly scan a field, read a defense, find the open read and get rid of the ball. These types of guys come and go every year in the NFL. He's not special enough to worry about hanging onto.

I've always been a McGee fan (Especially since he played high school ball here in the hill country) but I believe you are right. The game should have slowed down for him by now. He always looks uptight and rushed, even when he shouldn't be. It certainly doesn't help when you're feeling the pressure just to make the roster and your first two passes look bad because the reciever fell down on the first route and then dropped one that hit him in the hands. Players like McGee are a crapshoot. The lights may come on one day and he'll play like a pro-bowler, but on the other hand, he may have hit his ceiling. You never know.

I thought it was interesting that Jerry Jones said at the half that keeping McGee or cutting him was largely based upon where they felt they needed to use the roster spot. He didn't say, "keep McGee or Carpenter." He specifically referred to McGee. (of course, that is probably because McGee is not eligible for the practice squad and Carpenter is.)

How'd Costa do?

Pretty good in my opinion....he moved Solai off the line of scrimmage, pancaked some schlub named Baker, had a nice reach block on Tanner's first run.

Head and shoulders better than Arkin has looked at any time this preseason.

And Arkin got blown up back to back plays by a couple of drivers for UPS.
