no kidding *** is wrong with refs this year

Lot of long-time refs are leaving and younger guys are coming in. And it takes them at least a few years to adjust to the speed of the game.
Heard a retired ref who now advises ESPN say this is what is happening. It took him 19 years before he became a NFL ref. Then it took him about four years to get up to speed. He said refs are now coming to the league with less than four years at the collegiate level.
