I've read the pre-camp assessments, all the many posts here, and I've been around as a fan long enough to take a stab at this, so here goes...
The Giants are the most unstable team in the division, and will go down first. Coughlin's poor rapport with his players, the loss of Tiki, the aging of Strahan, and the fact that Eli is no Peyton Manning will combine to sink the Giants midway thru the season. We should start a separate thread to speculate on who will take Coughlin's place when he's fired...
The Skins are in a little better shape actually, mainly due to the respect they all have for Gibbs, who has done nothing to reverse the fortunes of this team, HOF notwithstanding. The running game looks good (passing game not so good) but with their defense (also not so good) and special teams (ditto) and a coach who the game seems to have passed by (been there...) they won't be in the playoff hunt this year.
The Eagles. Ah, yes - perennial division champs, fearsome defense, versatile offense, aggressive, disciplined, well-coached. Our nemesis. Do they have an Achilles heel? Over the years I've seen their backups step in and the system doesn't miss a beat, whether its at QB or LB or CB or WR. Last year Garcia showed it again, but he's in Tampa now I think, and this is what might haunt the Eagles. McNabb has missed time due to injuries for the last couple years, and the front office hedged their bets by drafting a QB with their first pick. Still, if McNabb goes down again (for instance, due to a blitzing LB dusting his jersey heheheh) and no decent backup in place, it might go hard for the Eagles. Still, they're the team to beat, and that's what we'll have to do to take this division...
Overall, being optimistic as usual, I think the Cowboys are due. We've underperformed the last few (more like ten) years, with just making the playoffs has been a constant tease. We're due. Due to come out hot, due to find a QB with the confidence to command this team, due to have our defense realize its potential, due to make big plays again, due to catch a break... We're due!!! 12-4 and division champs. Eagles 10-6. Skins 5-11. Giants 5-11.
