Cowboys Vs Saints X-Factor

This "tennis match" of a game, will probably come down to coaching as the X-Factor. Is there any way the Princeton Prince Jason Garrett could match or out coach Payton?

Yes, the players execute the game plan to perfection.

I am seeing this reoccurring theme on the blogs and twitter: The Cowboys Vs Saints game will come down to coaching!

Really???

How???

Don't get me wrong...I understand coaching is a big part of it, but to say that is to suggest that all other things are equal. It is saying talent-wise the Cowboys and the Saints are the same and nothing could be further from the truth for one big reason: Dak ain't Brees...not even close.

So to say this one comes down to coaching seems laughable to me and feels like people are doing their absolute best to nurture a narrative that Garrett should be fired if the Cowboys lose against the hottest team in the NFC right now. Good luck with that...:lmao:

This game will come down to execution. Know your assignment and execute we have a shot to win. But if the offense fails to execute and we give away scoring opportunities or defense has a lapse in the secondary then Brees will torch us.

If Garrett and Linehan are predictably predictable, I don’t like our chances, but if they call a smart game and take what the defense is giving up, then I like our chances. Dak cannot be afraid to audible to get out of one of Linehan’s predictable play calls. Example: if NO’s has 9 guys in the box on 1st down, go play action.

What if there are 9 guys in the box on 1st down, should we still try to execute a run play up the middle? Kinda hard to execute when there are not enough blockers.

No they shouldn't. I just don't understand the "run every down" crowd. I Don't care how many carries Zeke got. If you see a stacked box and you see a mismatch not the outside the smart thing to do is to pass on those situations and not run into it.

Dak won't change the play to a pass anyway, so yes they'll run the play called.

Agreed. Execution is paramount and we have to score TDs. The first team to get a FG will lose. I still think coaching will be important.

Garrett does not believe in schemes. He adamantly believes that it if all 11 of his players beat all 11 of yours on every snap he’s good to go. That was fine in the 90s with no salary cap. But you can’t have an all pro at every position anymore. He refuses to accept that and change

X factor is Dak.

If he has a big game we can beat just about anyone.

You nailed it, not only he refuses but he gets out coached & his only excuse is 'players didn't execute' ...

Well of course they won't execute ! The scheme is trash , nobody can execute that !

Do you think that is smart?

Maybe, Garrett and Linehan are not giving him the okay. If the offense/QB do not have the flexibility to change the play vs a stacked box that is Junior High Football.

Dak wouldn't know. He can't count or read a defense anyway.

Houston for sure so far this year
Garrett played a big part in us losing the first Skins game. Consistently we tried to run into a stacked box then had to throw on 3rd and long. Extremely predictable play calling that game. Then he got super conservative and settled for a long FG at the end.
