If the ball touches the ground it’s not a catch I thought?

Only if you have possession, 2 feet down, but have NOT performed a football move. Then the current going to the ground rule comes in and you still have to maintain control of he ball through the ground. Now, of course, you can "take an extra step" on the way down to the ground and you have a catch, just like Dez would now. A foot and then 2 knees equals 3 to me which would be a catch and the ball on the ground is irrelevant like it would be to Dez today too.
