he is apparently tight with fitzpatrick and the organization likes him. From what I understand petty and fitzpatrick watch tape all offseason together.

I think smith is the guy out in NY.

Could be close. Don't think Petty has figured out how to run an NFL offense yet. Looking forward to watching him in preseason to see if he can read defenses better too.

Just what we need… Another spread QB who never took a snap from under center. Suspect footwork, even with the year of seasoning in the NFL. Sounds like Showers 2.0.

We've already got 2 projects on the active roster, not to even mention Kellen Moore. I doubt we'll seriously consider another project as a backup who cannot claim to be a veteran QB with extensive experience. I have nothing against Petty, however -- just doubt he'll set foot in Frisco.

He learned how to read defenses playing Madden. Literally.

Petty is a long term project. He has a alot of upside, but he has a ways to go

I dont even think I would trade Dak for Petty

They'll cut Geno before they cut him imo.

I'm already lookin toward next years draft for a QB.

Until we get a legit guy it remains our #1 priority imo. Even more so than a bigtime DE.

Tapper IMO has a much better chance of being a big time DE them Dak has of being a starting QB. He has legit RDE potential.

2017 could be a good draft for us QB wise. I think we should be able to get our long term awnser without a sizeable trade it would have taken us in 2016

This would be my concern.
Dallas has two to develop. The only concern is if Romo goes down short term, would they be ready....thus the talks of a gap-filling vet.
Petty is not that.

I wish we wouldn't have drafted Dak.

I'll be happy if i'm wrong but his upside is as a NFL backup and i'd rather have taken a chance on the highest rated defensive player on our board.

I was a fan of Dak before we ever drafted him too but not as a legit NFL starter.

I dont think he was ever veiwed as a starter. I think they view him as a long term back.

You cant draft a guy in 4th, almost 5th round with the intention of him being your guy. The odds are so long that it is completely irrational to have that expectation on that pick. You make that pick with they eye on your future starter next year and make Dak change your mind. I dont think he will be able to

You don't have a 4th round grade on a guy and expect him to be a legitimate starter. A good outcome would be that he becomes a viable backup.

It seems like a waste IMO to draft a guy before the 6th round that you can't potentially see developing into a starter.
