Rams don't need a qb?
49ers don't need a qb?
Jets may need a qb
There are a few that will want to move up. Every year it happens.

Wentz or goff will be gone at 2. Jets will likely sign rg3. Not sure if 49ers would wanna move up.

Of course, most teams want to ensure the guy they want won’t be available if they trade down, and you can count the Dallas Cowboys among the teams pondering the thought of a trade down.

Huh?

Shouldn't that be "most teams want to ensure the guy they want WILL be available if they trade down" or am I misreading what he's trying to say?

As for the news itself, that stands to reason doesn't it? Teams at the top of the draft are always putting out feelers. It's part of the "draft game."

Do the Rams have a player on the DL they could give us to move up to 4 plus their 1st overall pick?

Would they part ways with Robert Quinn and possibly Tre Mason + their # 1 pick for the #4 overall pick?

I think the interesting question is whether we'd be willing to trade down with Philadelphia so they could hop over Chip and the 49ers for a QB. Giving the enemy their QB is probably a bad idea, but if you don't think these QBs are franchise it could set them back 4-5 years.

Bradford was only signed for a couple years, so they're still not really committed to him. Former OC/QB coach and current HC Doug Pederson likely wants a QB to groom.

For me, Philly being in-division would need to overpay a little, but if we're uninterested in taking a QB at 4 then they would not impact players we're likely to take. They have two 3rds at 77 and 79, and a 4th at 100. Points work out pretty exactly with the two 3rds but they don't have a 2nd, so they might do something like 3 (77), 4 (100), and 2nd in 2017.

Then at 8 we'd have a good chance of landing Zeek. Last year's 8th signed for 4 and $14.5.

I think PHI is happy with their QB position this year. Pederson and Daniels have a connection, and he's QB1A there right now. They're going to take OL.

But, either way, that 2nd QB will be there at #4 if we want him or want to trade him. If he's not, that means Ramsey is probably there for us, and that's ok, too.

well, to me, this supports the idea that the cowboys are looking at Zeke.

Pederson has said he's the backup. It could certainly lessen their need in RD1 but they don't pick again until mid RD3. Daniels is not their future any more than Moore or Weeden was ours. The same concerns Dallas fans have at QB should exist in Philadelphia. Actually more so in Philly because our injury-prone QB is actually good.

OL for them seems unlikely. Lane Johnson is their future LT, they still have Peters and just signed Brandon Brooks for G. If they were interested in RT, there's no reason to move up to 8. Where they were was an ideal spot for RT. That move seems more about getting into better position for Jack, Elliott, or a QB -- two gaping holes and a third that likely will be by October.

He's said he's their backup, but that's because he's not stupid enough to start a QB controversy before the season even starts. But there was talk about Daniels being a starting-caliber player in KC, where Pederson coached him previously. They gave him enough money. He's definitely there to handicap Bradford. And which QB is going to be there at 8, anyway? Lynch will be the only one left at that point.

OL is the direction they're going to go, because 'still having Peters' doesn't mean what it meant a couple of years ago. Pederson's an Andy Reid disciple; it's a good bet he builds from the OL up.

Daniels has 1 TD and 1 INT in 7 years. The contract is structured to sound big but it is easy for them to move on if he isn't capable of the job. Both Bradford and Daniels contracts were 'kick the tire' contracts. They're not paying $7 mil base (Daniels) or $22.5 mil (Bradford) to back up next year, so one (or both) is gone by next year.

If a QB goes to Cleveland, that is the point of my question. Philly would need to trade up over SF to get the QB or reach on Lynch. Moving up from 13 to 8 gives them a pick where a team in the 3-6 range would be willing drop down. It's much more palatable than dropping all the way to 13.

It all depends on Cleveland.

Pederson may or may not be an Andy Reid disciple -- i think that stuff is severely overstated by fans -- but teams don't take RT in the top 10. Lane Johnson is already the LT in waiting. He's playing there every time Peters is injured. Again, if RT is what they wanted, they stay at 13 and trade Alonso and Maxwell for additional picks. They wanted to move up for something.

We can agree to disagree, then. I think PHI's made the commitment they intend to make at QB for this season, at least, and that they're getting in position to take an OT, though Elliot makes some sense there, too.

Other teams might want the QB, though. I think we ought to take either of them if they're there, but I could see moving back, too, to get another top-100 pick, too.
