Cowboys winning seasons - a historical perspective

I posted this in another thread but I think it deserves it's own thread. I spent some time this morning researching the Cowboys appearances in the NFC championship games. There are fans in this board who have never seen the Cowboys that us old timers remember. While the Jerry years have been good for the profitability, they have represented the longest drought of being at the top in the teams history. Take a look for yourself.

• We played in the early "eastern conference" championship game the 3 times it was played in the 60's (67-70)
• We were in the NFC championship game 7 times in the 70's,
• 3 times in the 80's - Jerry then bought the team on a downturn and fired Landry (the press was saying the game had passed him by)
• 4 times in the 90's - won 3 SB's. Jimmy coached 89-93, Switzer won the last one in 95
• Since the 1995 super bowl it is 0 games in 22 years! Before that we had 17 championship games in 28 years....let that sink in.

So we have seen half the 90's (our longest drought up to that time) and the entire decade of the 00's and almost the entire teens (10-19) without even getting to the game. The wheels fell off once Jimmy left even though we still one another SB. Jerry hasn't figured out how to put together a highly competitive team since then. I honestly wonder if he has ever looked at this data before and what he does to justify this poor showing?
