Cowboys work out Oregon St QB Sean Mannion

I hope we do not pick him, and if we do I would hope it is not before the seventh. He is a wildly inconsistent thrower.

He is among the last of the QBs we have been associated with that I would want. Petty, Grayson, Bonner, even Halliday before this one.

I can't say any of these QBs do much for me but to be fair I have not really did much research on them nor watched any beyond Petty and Hundley...and I don't want the cowboys to take either of those guys. so...meh for this years class of QBs we might be interested in.

I'd take Mannion over Petty or Grayson any day. But that's really not saying much, I hope we don't draft any of them

Out of the QBs that the Cowboys could possibly get, Mannion is the most ready to play, having been in a pro style offense for four years, and Grayson also has experience in a pro set. Petty hasn't used a playbook before, and has most of his reads and throws dictated by the spread formations that Baylor used. If it were me, of the three, I would go with Grayson - he's the best combo of current readiness and upside of the three. Petty may have the most upside overall, but he has the largest ability to bust, IMO.

I would look at Shane Carden late in the draft.

Great point. Forgot about the Savage thing. Dalton was the interest before him

Always was reading that there were issues with TE coaching with John Garrett. Plus you get let go while you brother is the head coach? I get the connection on why Dallas is checking in to this QB but its not inspiring.

Well, in terms of just knowing about the guy's study habits and ability to pick things up, having your brother as his OC is a pretty good source as these things go. I'd forgotten that John Garrett was OC at Oregon State, so good catch.

Mannion might have potential with this team. I know you guys didn't think much of Romo, Tom Bradey, Wilson and Warner when they first started out.

I think there are going to be alot of angry fans because I have a feeling by the end of day 2, Dallas will have drafted a QB
