While watching the Jags-Pats game, a game i was really looking forward to, i found myself drifting and getting very bored.

This has happened a few times this season.

The NFL has changed dramatically. Watching those two teams go up and down the field was.. disconcerting.

By the end of the 3rd quarter NE had 5 drives, .. five.. and had scored on all of them. Only a chop blocked held them to field goal. Jags were doing the same thing.

Four and five wideouts, changes to rules pertaining to the defense, holding never called on O-linemen, never being able to touch the quarterback, its like watching the CFL.

Running plays are, for the most part, nothing but draws and screens.

The two QBs had 3 incompletions between them well into the 2nd half.

Meh, maybe its just me, but in the middle of a great Cowboys season i find myself missing a different NFL.

You know for a couple of years now I thought it was only the Cowboys that couldn't stop the short yardage passing game, but it's all over the NFL now.

Not sure if it's the "no contact after 5 yards" or whatever, but it seems every team is dinking and dunking down the field for successful yardage time after time. It's very apparent with teams with accurate, experienced, and quick thinking QB's. Brady is a master at it. NYG Manning did it to the Cowboys quite successfully in 2 games as well.

I think the league will adjust. I was thinking that a hybrid type player will develop. Lbers that are smaller and faster than before. Safeties will adapt and be more ball hawking aggressive moving forward, rather than protecting deep balls.

I think a guy like Kevin Burnett will become a huge factor during these playoffs. Short yardage coverage by LBers is big. If DB's are giving any cushion at all, the dink and dunk begins. It seems like many teams in league are doing what the Cowboys do, and protecting against the big pass play down field, willing to take their chances on the short passes.
