Cowherd said he was watching the SB alone last night and a friend called. He said his friend asked who the last great team to play in the SB was since these obviously weren't great teams.

Cowherd said "Obviously these weren't great teams, they were good teams. It was a great year for a good team to win the SB. The Colts are obviously a good team. That's what you get with parity, a lot of good teams. The last great team to play in the SB was the Dallas Cowboys. Six probable HoF'ers. Unstoppable. That was a great team."

Man I miss those years... :(

some times he gets it right.
Yup. Those Cowboys were the last great team.

It is ashame that the NFL has reinvented itself in such a way as to routinely produce mediocre champions.

I'm thinking the league has jumped the shark. Here's hoping that they address the issue.

Hey, nothing lasts forever, much less football teams.

Just be thankful we had the pleasure of watching and enjoying a Cowboys team that great. :starspin

Can you imagine if those players and that HC, (JJ), had been on an Eagles or Commanders team? That would have been painful to endure.

You know, near the end of the game, I was think to myself.... "self, i says.... when was the last time an awesome team, an - A-W-E-S-O-M-E - team, in the mold of the CHAMPIONMS the nfl used to produce - not these water-down, halflings of the free-agent era, won the SB?...." took myself back to January, 1994....

I think the Denver squad that upset the Packers in 97 was pretty good too.

I dont know if the criteria should be the number of HOF your team had. The Bills had a HOF guys like Reed, Kelly, Smith and Thomas and I wouldnt say that any of their teams are among the greatest ever.

I doubt we ever see a truly great team again. Global Warming, FA and the Salary Cap. ;)

OK the Boys had the triplets, sanders and Haley, plus LA. ANd at that time Erik Williams was playing at HOF caliber. Stepnoski and Gogan and Tuini and company if not HOF were near pro bowl quality. On D we had Lett and some other guys on D that were pretty good as well. Woodson is near HOF as well.
6 certain HOF guys and maybe 3-5 others that for at least a while were playing near that level.
You look at the Colts and they have Manning and Harrison. Maybe Sanders if he keeps playing like he has, and Freeney as well. No one else will even sniff the HOF. Maybe 2-3 other guys that are near pro bowl level. for all intents and purposes this colt team was about HALF as good as the Boys were.

if the 92-95 Cowboys played this Colt team 10 times...they might win one...and the vast majority of our wins would be by double digits...easily
