SF is actually on a close latitude to KC and Denver, as well More north than Charlotte or Nashville. The ocean keeps it from getting heavy snowfall type cold, but It does get cold. Flat maps can often misinform the fact that most of Texas and all of Florida are more south than the southern most part of California. Atlanta is smack dab in the middle of the state above Florida, and it’s still more south than LA!

As far as SF’s NFL hierarchy… I would put it with Nashville and Charlotte as temperate climates; neither tundra nor beach weather in December/January

The weather in the Bay Area is peculiar. The temperature difference can be significantly different in Santa Clara compared to San Francisco. Much more mild in Santa Clara. Neither can be considered “warm weather” areas.
