ESPN...says it's a good rule to protect players...when asked if he'd ever been horsecollared, he thought for a second and smile and said "not like Roy Williams does it."

Later he said the rule was basically created with Roy in mind, "so he might want to take a look at it."

or something very close to that....funny stuff.

I don't see what defense you can make for Roy. It's pretty black and white... RW can only blame himself.

I know Roy is superior to Keith Davis, but I'm still excited to see how Davis plays...I think he'll do just fine against the run. I'm guessing they'll protect him even more than Roy in the passing game.

There's no good defense for doing something illegal to the point you get suspended for it. I'm curious what the grounds are for Roy contesting the suspension, though.

Why you gotta make it a black and white thing man? Ain't nothin' racial about it.:D

Probably that other players aren't suspended for similar offenses -- roughing the quarterback, flagrant facemasks, chop blocks, late hits, etc.

I'm pretty sure the last case like this was Mark Carrier, and it took years of helmet-to-helmet hits for the NFL to suspend him for it.

Probably. The flagrant facemask point is a great one, because it's obviously a more dangerous way to get someone to the ground. Still, when they name the rule after you after you've injured several players, and you do it flagrantly and unnecessarily against a former superstar, after already getting three flags for it early in the year, there's not much of a place to hide. I can't see his appeal being successful.

Well, seeing how the rule was made with Roy Williams in mind, you think he's going to get cut some slack?

He's already been fined for the tactice. If anyone was on notice, it was Roy Williams.

The rule is stupid. Roy doesn't try to intentionally hurt players. He just had the bad luck of hurting three in one year, and a superstar that could have cost the favorite a chance at the SB.

How many has he hurt this year, even though he's supposedly violated it 4 times. Zero.

You watched some games in 2005 right?

I'm not so sure about that anymore. The drop off may not be that big, if any at all. When was the last time Roy made a BIG PLAY? Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Roy fan but the play making just hasn't be there in awhile.. I'm still waiting for it tho...

Some of the posts about getting excited to see Kieth Davis as opposed to Roy Williams is Hilarious. I mean do you guys or did you guys the Killer blow so many coverages when he did start?

Keith is not going to be or never going to be Starting Safety. He bites on Play-action way too easy, and Bill Parcells was correct about him being a great Special Teamer and thats his meal ticket.

I just dont understand the difference between watching #29 let players run rampant in the secondary and watching #31 let players run rampant in the secondary.

Yeah, because you, basically don't understand.

Not intionally but end of day he has severely hurt a lot of players. They made the rule and have fined him repeatedly.

What scares me more was Roy's reaction like he felt he had not horsecollared McChuny. It was blatant. I'll be stunned if Goodel reverses his suspension.

Can someone please tell me who this Horse Collar person is on our team? I keep hearing that they named the rule after him, but I can't seem to find him on the roster. And why does everyone keep talking about Roy Williams when they bring up this Collar and his rule?

One instance of injury may be excused as bad luck. Three instances is a trend. The NFL acted appropriately, and the suspension is fair.
