What are the pros and cons if Crayton misses several games or the season? Price brings more speed and experience. Crayton has better hands and perhaps better route running. What does everyone think?

I think we had better use Price to the best of HIS abilities, and not to just plug in for Crayton.

I think you're exactly correct. Price will bring more speed and explosiveness, but I don't think he's going to be the sure handed third down receiver that we have in Crayton. I don't think his short to intermediate routes are going to be as precise and I don't think he'll be able to catch nearly as well. But he'll be fast and he might help to stretch the D so that we can use Witten and Key for anything underneath without having the middle of the field crowded.

Given a choice I'd rather have Crayton out there. But if the choice is between Price and Copper it's a no brainer.

Crayton was a great third option, his toughness is whats going to be missed. He doesn't stop after his first hit he continues to keep his motor running. That 3rd and 14 play he converted is a great example because he went back to the ball and turned up and broke a tackle enough to get a first down. Don't know if Price could make a play like that, but we'll see next week.

I think Terry might have to go back more to the jack-of-all trades role he played in 03.

I hope not, but I think since Price is a sidelines burner a la Galloway, if not as fast, and Bill's unlikely to send two wide outs deep as a staple, Terry will essentially take over more of Patrick's over an down the middle routes.

Of course Key is still there, and Jason, but Price's game may be as limited as Joey's was...here's hoping he picked up a trick or two in Atlanta like T did in Green Bay. A crossing pattern or two, maybe. If he doesn't treat the middle of the field like a toxic dump, Patrick's loss will be minimized. But I think Patrick is already the more complete receiver. He is the mix of downfield speed and possession skills we wished AB would have become here.

As long as Price can separate, I really don't care how it impacts Terry's route..or even his game.

But he better get open.

Consistently.

Price and Bledsoe work well together. I don't expect any dropoff at all. I have really learned to like Crayton though, and it sucks he got hurt.

Crayton has great hands, and he runs really crisp routes. He is pretty explosive, but doesnt have the straight line speed of Price. Price is going to stretch the field a bit more than Crayton, but we lose a bit more of that surehanded ness underneath.

I am hoping that Price's deep presence will open up the underneath a bit more for Witten. He's going to see alot more passes thrown his way from this point, because someone has to step it up.

I think our "four-headed receiving monster" of Key, Glenn, Witten and Crayton has been a the key to our early passing success and fear Crayton's injury is a crushing blow. He's fearless in the middle of the field, uses his strong hands to snatch the ball out of the air and uses great body control to fall forward for extra yards. I think Price plays small and I share others' concerns that he is nothing more than an outside "fly pattern" guy. I obviously hope he's successful but someone other than Price is going to need to compensate for the loss of Crayton's unique size/skill combo and clutch production. Looks like Barber has a knack for catching the ball out of the backfield- hoping we'll see him more even when JJ returns.

Price was an all-around receiver for Bledsoe in Buff. He was his go-to guy. I wouldn't limit him to strictly being a deep threat.

Also, I think Witten will take over a lot of Crayton's 3rd down work.

There was that one catch in the 2nd quarter I believe where Crayton reached in front of his defender to haul it in for the 1st down. You folks probably remember which catch I'm talking about because it was impressive as hell. That catch had me saying to myself, "There's no way Peerless makes a catch like that." It's gonna hurt. I hope we can get by.

I'm hoping that's the case. I still don't think Bledsoe looks Witten's way often enough.

What I recall was Moulds being more the well-rounded one.

Well, we shall see.

It's very likely Atlanta will turn out to be a positive experience for Price, and us, after all...there is no doubt Price diversifed his game there.

I remember that 3rd down catch Crayton made. It was fantastic, in traffic and tough.

JD - YOU STATE THAT AS IF YOU'VE SEEN PEERLESS PRICE PLAY WEEK IN AND WEEK OUT? I doubt you have - prolly just reacting off what you've "read" by the gloomer and NY Bills fans - see Bledsoe threads....

Thanks - sorry bout caps!

Keyshawn's job is to be the "sure handed 3rd down guy", not Crayton. With Price we should be able to stretch the field a lot more.

You also forget another important part of his game he blocks well as a wr for the running game something Price was critizied for his lack of effort in Atl

That will be missed as well

First let me say that I am a Crayton fan. He has stepped it up BIG time and I hate that he is injured.

Having said that...

I really feel that Price will be an upgrade over Crayton in the WR mode.

Price on the field is almost like having another Terry Glenn. Both similiar in size and ability.

Bledsoe has a history with both and I expect our passing game to be MORE explosive now with Price in the slot.

I am EXCITED to see the combo of Glenn/Price/Johnson/Witten on the field at the same time.

Expect BIG plays....

I think TGlenn will have to make more catches over the middle and this will put him at greater risk of injury. I also worry about punt returns. TGlenn has done it before, but that would put him at even greater risk. We can't afford to risk TNew. I think that means Peerless will be returning punts; he's also done it before.
