1. Patrick Crayton isn't getting any younger. He's as gritty as they come, but if you heard Bryan Broaddus' appearance on the D.C. Fanatic Show last night, you heard him put Crayton's 40 time in the 4.72 range.


Yikes.

I seem to remember that Jerry Rice had a time of 4.68 coming out of college, although some internet sources place it at 4.71

He turned out allright, I guess.

He went to the Michael Johnson training center to work on his speed.

I think he was clocked at 4.6 coming out of college. After working on his speed with Michael Johnson, he should probably be in that same range.

Yep 4.6 is what I figured also. Guy makes plays when he gets the ball in his hands, maybe we just don't get it to him enough...

sure he can get open but what could be 40 yard gains are 20 yard gains cause of his lack of speed.

And Crayton gets open and makes catches. He's a top 5 slot receiver in the NFL. I trust him more than Roy.

Yes, in that order because Miles has only done it for one season. I'm one of the biggest Miles Austin fans (dirty jerz!), but I'd like to see him perform at this level again.

40 times can be overrated. Crayton has great hands and gets open a lot. You have to consider the 40 time of the person covering him. Rarely is a 4.4 CB going to Crayton because they will be on Austin and Roy.

I have always felt 40 tmes were overated. Some "expert" was saying the other day that is one reason why WR's are such a crap shoot in the draft. He cited that a WR can run a fast 40 time in a straight line, WITHOUT pads on, but that doesn't mean that they can get open, get off the line and more importantly run good routs at full speed......I like Crayton for our 3rd WR, and on punt returns the guy has a knack of breaking plays.

Good points. I wish for the fans they would time guys in their pads. It would clear up some common misconceptions.
