Crazy money

More of a reason to keep drafting well. It's the only way to add talent, control the cap and youth of your club. This is no place for sentiment, players of all skill sets will come and go. Draft well and be smart with the money, whether paying your own or shopping elsewhere.

Key is draft well, we don't!

Check his numbers and contract against those of the receivers being handed out today.

Trust me, you'll feel better.

Many on here have no clue how good twill really has been. Highest catch % for a cowboys receiver last year. Has better numbers than these guys stealing these big contracts. Teams will be regretting all these large contracts.

In the Cap era this is defintely the best path for success. But you must draft well every year which is difficult even for the best talent evaluators.

In addition you can’t always draft for best available talent you must draft more for positions of need which can place you in a situation to reach for a player or take a risk you might not normally take because of a specific need.

But if you manage the Cap well then your in position to occasionally overpay a player you know will be difficult to replace in draft that could set you back.

it is pretty much no debate that the Pats are the team that has figured out the modern era the best though the Squeelers and Packers are pretty close. What they do is constantly work at getting as many picks in the draft as they can get because they in reality are no better than anyone else at evaluating talent; very good but not great. They are careful with their cap so they can afford to over pay now and then for FA's. And of course they have the edge of being contenders every year and those older players with something still in the tank often take discounts to sign with the pats in the hope of getting a ring.

Here is the issue I have with the WR Corps - They need more than 1 player. I love Cole but isn't he the same player as Switzer. Butler was the one guy that could hurt you deep. Brown, Dez and TWill are essentially the same player. The group needs a full makeover. I remain hopeful it is a high pick and a solid FA (John Brown) that can do things the current group can not.

The Pats have been consistently successful because they’ve amazingly had the same HOF QB for 18 years and a great Defensive mind as HC.

Take Brady out of the equation and they’re just another team fighting to get into the playoffs.

It is still not over.

Jerick McKinnon just got 4 years, $30M from the 49ers.

No they have to have the talent as well. And they do a very good job of maintaining a steady level of talent that frankly no one else does.

Its still left to be seen how they maintain their level of excellence once Tommy is gone .

So far all we know is without him they are a 11-5 team missing the playoffs .
