I picked the Cowboys because I thought the last game of the regular season and that playoff game made them hard and mean and the Rams had a 2nd year HC and time off.
I underestimated McVay and his lesson learned from last season and from their opening drive, I knew I had misjudged him. I actually expected it to be worse than an 8 point loss after their first drive as it was apparent the Cowboys run D was a no show.
I saw criticism of Garrett for his comment about the Rams being a better team but his assessment is correct. What's so bad about being honest? You lose to a better team, are you not supposed to acknowledge that? They've been a better team for the last two seasons, ever since they hired McVay and were smart enough to put good veteran coaching around him.
The Rams have better management, coaching and talent than the Cowboys. I thought we might catch them sleeping but they were ready. McVay beat the Cowboys at their own game. He showed them how a real OL plays in the playoffs.
There's no shame in losing to a better team, particularly on the road where your entire team is worse, and that's a different problem. It is a tale of two teams.
If you thought the Cowboys were a better team than the Rams, that's on you. What I failed to consider was that the Cowboys had already beaten a team better than them in the first playoff game and that string was bound to run out.
The Cowboys got lucky in that first game with poor coaching decisions but that luck would run out in LA. Damned fine coaching job by McVay, Phillips and their crew. Wade said all the right things before that game but down deep inside he's got to feel really satisfied. I wasn't a fan of him as a HC but I do think he got shafted and am happy for him.
