I thought it was pretty solid. Even though it's perfectly believable for a son to have a different personality than his father, I would have preferred they had scripted a more flamboyant character similar to Apollo/Ali. However, a flamboyant personality like Apollo wouldn't make some of the choices that Adonis makes, so I don't fault the actor for the character having a more low key workmanlike personality. Still, Carl Weathers was one of my favorite boxers/actors, so I was a little disappointed they didn't have more in common. The way that movie is scripted, I really can't picture another actor handling it much better than Jordan. There was some depth to his character, but not a lot and it just seemed like one of those roles that would be hard to play without coming off at least a little bit corny at times. Despite the title, Rocky still takes up much of the screen time. I imagine that part of the movie's direction was due to Stallone not wanting to have a stronger personality dominate the film.
